LSC Baseball postseason awards announced

West Texas A&M senior third baseman Adam Becker claimed Lone Star Conference Baseball Player of the Year honors for the second consecutive season to highlight the league’s baseball postseason awards, it was announced Wednesday by LSC officials at the championship banquet.
 
Becker, who is from Midland, Texas, hit .420 with 15 home runs, 22 doubles and a league-high 74 RBIs. He also led the league with 89 hits, walked 26 times, had two triples and scored 64 runs. Becker, who started all 52 games for the Buffs, helped his team reach the LSC Baseball Championship.
 
Angelo State junior Kade Bragg was named LSC Pitcher of the Year after going 11-1 with one save and a 1.07 ERA. The left-hander struck out 98 batters over 75 2/3 innings of work. He logged four complete games and three shutouts.
 
St. Edward’s sophomore first baseman Lance Little took Newcomer of the Year honors after hitting .409 with 15 home runs, 61 RBIs and a .526 on-base percentage.
 
UT Tyler designated hitter Kaston Mason was voted LSC Freshman of the Year after batting .352 with 13 home runs, 56 RBIs and 36 walks.
 
Angelo State was named Coaching Staff of the Year for the second straight year. Head coach Kevin Brooks and assistants Adam Foster, Sam Mote and Riley Peterson led the Rams to the Lone Star Conference regular season title with a 40-8 record and a No. 1 ranking in the national polls.
 
Overall, 48 student-athletes were honored by the all-conference program. The awards are voted on by the league’s head coaches.
