LSC Volleyball Weekly Release - Week 2


Lone Star Conference teams get a first look at league opponents during three-day Crossover play at four sites – Eastern New Mexico, Lubbock Christian, Texas A&M-Kingsville, West Texas A&M – on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Matches at the Crossovers do not count toward LSC standings and provide teams quality in-region, non-conference competition ahead of the start to the league schedule September 20.

Lubbock Christian is the remaining undefeated LSC team through the opening two weeks of the 2023 season, posting a 7-0 mark. Angelo State, Texas A&M International, UT Permian Basin and West Texas A&M each have one loss to date.
 
The September 11 AVCA/Taraflex Poll lists West Texas A&M at #2 with the Lady Buffs' lone loss against then #2 Concordia-St. Paul as the two teams traded places in the poll after Saturday's match. Both Angelo State and UT Tyler receiving votes.  LINK

OFFENSIVE
Kiana Fallaha, Lubbock Christian, Outside Hitter, Jr., Exercise Science, San Antonio, Texas (Harlan HS)
Outside hitter Kiana Fallaha led LCU to three wins at the Chap Classic posting 42 kills (4.20/set) and 28 digs. The junior tallied a 16-kill performance in the home-opening victory over Southern Arkansas and followed with another 16-kill showing in a sweep vs. Arkansas Tech. Fallaha finished with a double-double performance against Minot State recording 10 kills and 11 digs for her third career double-double.
 
DEFENSIVE
Kady Hansen, Texas Woman's, Middle Blocker, Fr., Theatre, Stillwater, Okla. (Homeschool)
Freshman Kady Hansen put together a 17-block performance to lead a Texas Woman's defense that held its four Denton Volleyfest opponents to a collective .217 hitting percentage. The middle blocker averaged one block per set and claimed all-tournament honors.
 
SETTER
Ainsley Malis, West Texas A&M, Setter, Jr., Sports & Exercise Science, Tucson, Ariz. (Tanque Verde HS)
Setter Ainsley Malis directed the West Texas A&M offense at the Colorado Premier, averaging 5.05 assists/set over four matches vs. Top 25 opponents. Malis posted team-highs assists in wins against RV Lewis (34), #6 MSU Denver (26) and #13 West Florida (19), and 17 in the five-set loss to #2 Concordia-St. Paul.
