LSC Volleyball Weekly Release - Week 4

 
Five teams completed the opening weekend of the Lone Star Conference volleyball schedule unscathed – Angelo State, Texas A&M-Kingsville, Texas Woman's, UAFS and Dallas Baptist. Two of the LSC unbeatens meet Wednesday (Sept. 27) as TWU makes the trek to ASU. A full slate of LSC matches close the month of September and open October.

The September 25 AVCA/Taraflex Poll lists West Texas A&M at #5 while Angelo State and Dallas Baptist are among teams receiving votes.  LINK  Next ranking October 2.
 
Through September 25, LSC teams carry a combined 71-47 (.602) record against NCAA Division II opponents, including a 17-8 mark versus South Central Region rival Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.  ...  The LSC is 9-0 vs. South and 4-0 vs. Southeast Region conferences, and 8-2 against Midwest Region opponents.

OFFENSIVE
Delaney Fuller, Dallas Baptist, Outside Hitter, Sr., Psychology, San Juan Capistrano, Calif. (San Juan Hills HS)
Senior Delaney Fuller led Dallas Baptist to a 2-0 week that included an upset win over No. 3 West Texas A&M and a sweep of Cameron. Fuller's stat line included a team-high 52.5 points, 46 kills, and 5.75 kills per set. In the Lady Patriots five-set thriller against WT, the outside hitter led all players with 29 kills and a team-best .358 attack percentage. Against Cameron, Fuller again led DBU in kills (16).
 
DEFENSIVE
Jeri Ficklen, Texas A&M-Kingsville, Middle Blocker, So., Biomedical Sciences, Cuero, Texas (Cuero HS)
Sophomore Jeri Ficklen was dominant in the middle for Texas A&M-Kingsville as the Javelinas swept Western New Mexico and Texas A&M International to begin league play. The middle blocker posted a team-leading 12 blocks across the matches to lead a defense which held WNMU and TAMIU to a combined .042 hitting percentage.
 
SETTER
Chloe Price, UAFS, Setter, Sr., Organizational Leadership, Siloam Springs, Ark. (Siloam Springs HS)
Senior Chloe Price averaged 9.71 assists in guiding the UAFS offense to LSC season-opening wins versus Lubbock Christian and Eastern New Mexico. The setter totaled five kills vs. LCU and posted a combined 26 digs for a double-double in assists and digs in the back-to-back matches.
