OFFENSIVE
Jackie Alanis, Texas A&M-Kingsville, OH, Sr., Biomedical Sciences, McAllen, Texas (James Nikki Rowe HS)
Outside hitter Jackie Alanis, was the engine to a high-powered Texas A&M-Kingsville offense that recorded a .293 hitting percentage while going 4-0 to open the season. The senior posted a .412 hitting percentage averaging 2.93 kills over the 10 sets, including a team-high 13 kills in the Javelinas' win over previously undefeated #RV Quincy, along with 4 aces and 6 blocks.
DEFENSIVE
Hannah Watkins, UAFS, Middle Blocker, So., Social Work, Greenwood, Ark. (Greenwood HS)
UAFS middle blocker Hannah Watkins totaled 18 blocks, including 7 against Belmont Abbey and 6 vs. Lander, and her defensive play helped the Lady Lions hold both Belmont Abbey and Francis Marion below a .100 attack percentage. The sophomore finished the weekend with 29 kills behind a .333 attack percentage as the Lions went 4-0 to start to the new season.
SETTER
Kayton Genenbacher, Lubbock Christian, Setter, Jr., Biology, Lubbock, Texas (Frenship HS)
Junior Kayton Grenenbacher helped LCU to a season-opening 4-0 record with 168 assists (11.2 per set), 49 digs (3.27 per set) and 10 aces (0.67 per set) en route to claiming all-tournament honors at the Yellowjacket Invitational in Billings, Mont. The setter produced a pair of double-doubles, with 43 assists and 14 digs against Black Hills State and 63 assists and 20 digs against MSU Billings.
