Western Oregon, Angelo State, Midwestern State, West Texas A&M and UT Permian Basin all earned wins in Week 6 of Lone Star Conference football. All were home victories except UTPB’s 14-13 win over No. 9-ranked Central Washington. To read the recaps, click here.
 
WOU and ASU each have a four-game winning streak and are atop the conference standings at 4-0.
 
Eastern New Mexico is producing 431.8 offensive yards per game, followed by CWU (408.5 ypg) and UT Permian Basin (390.7 ypg). The Greyhounds are scoring a league-high 30.3 points per game and have scored 24 touchdowns – tied with CWU and UTPB.
 
On the defensive side, CWU is allowing just 228.8 yards per game. ASU (269.3) and UTPB (270.7) are also holding opponents under 300 yards per game. ASU has the LSC’s top scoring defense at 10.8 points per game and has allowed just eight TDs all season.
 
Week 7 will again feature all 10 teams and all Saturday games.

LONE STAR CONFERENCE FOOTBALL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

OFFENSIVE
Braeden Fuller, Angelo State, QB, Jr., Kinesiology, Floresville, Texas
Angelo State junior quarterback Braeden Fuller passed for 332 yards and four touchdowns without an interception and also ran for a score to lead the Rams to a 38-0 win over Texas A&M-Kingsville in a battle of teams who entered 3-0 in conference play. Fuller, who wins the league’s top weekly offensive award for the second consecutive week and third time this season, was 18 of 32 through the air. His passing yards and TDs were career-highs. Fuller’s TD run was the first score of the game. He had at least one TD pass – two went to Kel Williams – in each of the first three quarters.
 
DEFENSIVE
Jalani Jefferson, UT Permian Basin, CB, Jr., Management, Murrieta, Calif.
UT Permian Basin junior cornerback Jalani Jefferson had two interceptions and five tackles to help the Falcons upset No. 9 Central Washington on the road. Jefferson also had two pass break-ups and one tackle for loss in the 14-13 win. Jefferson and company limited CWU to just 77 yards of offense in the second half and kept the Wildcats off the scoreboard in the fourth quarter. It was the highest ranked team the Falcons have beaten in program history. Jefferson’s two picks came in the first half and he broke up the Wildcats’ final pass attempt of the game.
 
SPECIAL TEAMS
Cade Fuller, Angelo State, P/K, Sr., Sociology, Fountain Valley, Calif.
Angelo State senior punter/kicker Cade Fuller averaged 49.9 yards on eight punts with a long of 71 and also handled kickoff duties to help the Rams defeat Texas A&M-Kingsville 38-0. Fuller, who leads the conference with a 46.2-yard punt average on a league-high 42 booms, had two punts inside the 20 and five going for more than 50 yards. Five of his seven kickoffs were touchbacks. Fuller’s play helped the Rams stay unbeaten in LSC play at 4-0 and ended the Javelina’s four-game winning streak. Fuller ranks third in all of NCAA Division II in punt average this season and is No. 7 all-time with a 41.5 career average.
