Lone Star Conference volleyball closes the first half of the 2024 league season with two undefeated teams and five one- and two-loss squads chasing the duo. West Texas A&M (13-3) and UT Tyler (9-5) each sport 6-0 LSC records and face each other Saturday following Friday matches – WT at DBU and UT Tyler hosting Eastern New Mexico.  …  Angelo State and DBU carry 5-1 conference records. ASU upended Texas A&M International and Texas A&M-Kingsville while DBU claimed road wins at St. Edward's and St. Mary's last weekend.  …  Three teams -- St. Mary's, Texas Woman's and Lubbock Christian – sit at 4-2 in conference play. St. Mary's is at TWU on Friday with both looking to create separation in the conference standings. LCU continues its home stand taking on UT Permian Basin and Sul Ross State.  …  UTPB and TAMIU are each even at 3-3 vs. the LSC.

NCAA Volleyball Championship. The first regional rankings will be released Nov. 6 (alphabetical) followed by numerical lists on Nov. 13 and Nov.20.  …  The 2024 Division II national tournament bracket is set for announcement on Nov. 25 via online selection show at 6:30 p.m. CT. Tournament play begins with Regionals Dec. 5-8 at campus sites and concludes in Sioux City, S.D., and the Dec. 12-14 Finals.

OFFENSIVE
Evelyn Torres, Angelo State, Outside Hitter, Gr., Global Security Systems, Fort Worth, Texas
Outside hitter Evelyn Torres averaged 5.50 points and 5.14 kills and hit .308 for the week as Angelo State claimed home wins over Texas A&M International and Texas A&M-Kingsville. Against TAMIU, Torres recorded 14 kills and 12 digs in the four-set win, then closed her weekend with 22 kills behind a .463 attack and eclipse the 1,000-career kill mark in the Belles sweep of the Javelinas.
 
DEFENSIVE
Bryleigh Schweer, Lubbock Christian, Middle Blocker, Jr. Business Administration, Greeley, Colo.
The consistent presence of middle blocker Bryleigh Schweer at the net was key in Lubbock Christian wins over Texas A&M-Kingsville and Texas A&M International as the Lady Chaps and opponents entered the matches tied in the LSC standings. The junior recorded nine blocks vs. TAMIU, tying the highest solo block mark in LCU’s NCAA-era, and added 14 kills and three blocks against TAMUK. Schweer finished with 29 points (3.22 ave.)
 
SETTER
Adeline Ortman, Angelo State, Setter, Gr., MBA, Rhome, Texas
Adeline Ortman averaged 12.14 assists per set as Angelo State hit .291 in a pair of home wins over Texas A&M International and Texas A&M-Kingsville. The graduate student totaled 54 assists, three kills, and seven digs in the four-set win against TAMIU and came back the next day to record her fifth double-double of the season with 31 assists and 13 digs in the sweep of TAMUK.
 
FRESHMAN
Kaycee Cavanaugh, West Texas A&M, Outside Hitter, Fr., Sports & Exercise Science, Troy, Texas
Freshman Kaycee Cavanaugh continued to impress as West Texas A&M picked up LSC road wins at Oklahoma Christian and Eastern New Mexico. The outside hitter had 20 kills and just four attack errors for a .356 attack percentage, adding 18 digs and four blocks. Cavanaugh tallied a career-high 15 kills and added 14 digs vs. OC for her sixth double-double of the season.
