LSC selected to host NCAA Division II Football Championship title game for additional two years

The Lone Star Conference and McKinney Independent School District will continue to host the NCAA Division II Football Championship title game at McKinney ISD Stadium through the 2027 season, it was announced by the NCAA on Wednesday (Oct. 2). The two-year extension keeps the national championship game in McKinney, Texas, where it has been held since 2018.

The next four Division II Football Championship title games are set for Dec. 21, 2024; Dec. 20, 2025; Dec. 19, 2026; and Dec. 18, 2027.

McKinney ISD Stadium and Community Event Center is a $70 million, 12,000-plus seat facility built in 2017. Last year’s national title game had a crowd of 12,552 – the game’s most since 2015 and second highest in 27 years.

The LSC has hosted its Football Media Day inside the Community Event Center since 2018.

This is the fourth time for this specific NCAA championship bid process, which created the largest host site announcement ever. This cycle marked a shift from a four-year to a two-year site selection process spanning 86 championships across all three divisions.
