West Texas A&M, Western Oregon, No. 21 Central Washington, Sul Ross State and Angelo State all earned victories in Week 7 of Lone Star Conference football. To read the recaps, click here.
 
WOU and ASU now have five-game winning streaks and are tied atop the conference standings at 5-0.
 
With a 34-20 homecoming victory over Western New Mexico, new league member SRSU secured its first LSC and NCAA Division II win.
 
Eastern New Mexico is producing 415 offensive yards per game, followed by CWU (407.3 ypg) and West Texas A&M (385.6 ypg). ENMU is scoring a league-high 29.4 points per game, while CWU and UT Permian Basin have found the end zone an LSC-best 28 times.
 
On the defensive side, CWU is allowing just 214.6 yards per game and has two shutouts. ASU (265.3 ypg) and UTPB (279.6) are also holding opponents under 300 yards per game. ASU has the LSC’s top scoring defense at 10.3 points per game and has allowed just nine TDs all season.
 
Week 8 will again feature all 10 teams and all Saturday games.

LONE STAR CONFERENCE FOOTBALL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

OFFENSIVE
Kennedy McGill, Central Washington, QB, So., Sports Management, Bothell, Wash.
Central Washington sophomore quarterback Kennedy McGill threw for 193 yards and four touchdowns and ran for 81 yards on 16 carries to lead the No. 21-ranked Wildcats to a 31-0 road win over Texas A&M-Kingsville. McGill was 10 of 12 passing without an interception. After a scoreless first quarter, McGill got CWU on the board with 6:42 left in the second with 67-yard TD strike to Darrien Gaines. McGill’s longest rush was for 20 yards. He has now thrown for 10 TDs this season and leads the league in rushing yards per game.
 
DEFENSIVE
Daniel Matagi, Central Washington, DE, So., Exercise Science, Chehalis, Wash.
Central Washington sophomore defensive end Daniel Matagi had three sacks, a forced fumble and four tackles for a loss of 28 yards to lead the No. 21-ranked Wildcats to a shutout of Texas A&M-Kingsville. Matagi also had five solo tackles as CWU held the Javelinas to just 129 yards of total offense in the 31-0 road game. Matagi and company now have two shutouts and three games where they did not allow a touchdown this season.
 
SPECIAL TEAMS
Keaton Emmett, Western Oregon, K, Fr., Undecided, Lake Oswego, Ore.
Western Oregon freshman kicker Keaton Emmett nailed the game-winning field goal in overtime to lift the Wolves past UT Permian Basin, 30-27. Emmett’s field goal, which was from 29 yards, also helped WOU extend its winning streak to five games and stay unbeaten in conference play. Emmett, who wins the league’s top weekly special teams award for the second time this season and second time over the last three weeks, also connected from 42 and 48 yards out and hit all three extra-point tries. His first two field goals came on back-to-back drives in the second quarter to give the Wolves a 20-14 halftime lead. Emmett handled kickoff duties, as well, recording three touchbacks.
