The final week of the 2024 Lone Star Conference volleyball season is a big one with tournament berths and seeding on the line. The top six teams in the standings play at least once against each other in the last two games.  …  League-leading West Texas A&M has Texas Woman’s (T-4th) on Saturday after a Friday game against Midwestern State (10th) who is fighting for a postseason spot.  …  A key travel partner weekend involves fourth place DBU and second place UT Tyler who are making Friday-Saturday stops at second place Angelo State and sixth place Lubbock Christian.  …  Seventh place Oklahoma Christian hosts one of the two teams right behind them in the standings, UT Permian Basin who is tied with St. Mary’s at eighth.  …  A trio of teams – MSU, Texas A&M-Kingsville (T-11th) and Texas A&M International (T-11th) – are eyeing wins to stay in the mix.  
LSC Volleyball Tournament: November 21-22-23 hosted by the No.1 seed. The 2024 tournament bracket will be released after all LSC matches are completed on Saturday (Nov. 16).
 
NCAA Volleyball Championship. The first regional rankings release on Wednesday (Nov. 6) in alphabetical order. Numerical ranking lists follow on Nov. 13 and Nov. 20.  …  The 2024 Division II national tournament bracket is announced Nov. 25 via NCAA.com online selection show at 6:30 p.m. CT. Tournament play begins with Regionals Dec. 5-8 at campus sites and concludes in Sioux City, S.D., and the Dec. 12-14 Finals. OFFENSIVE
Gloria Geurin, UT Permian Basin, Outside Hitter, Sr., Nursing, Corpus Christi, Texas
Senior Gloria Geurin led UT Permian Basin in back-to-back LSC wins over St. Mary’s and St. Edward’s to stay in postseason contention. The outside hitter recorded her sixth double-double of the year totaling a season-high 17 kills and 15 digs, while hitting .350 vs. StMU. She came back on Senior Day with an all-around 12 kill-6 block-5 dig-3 ace performance against SEU. Guerin finished the weekend with 39 points (4.88 per set).
 
DEFENSIVE
Dakota Rogers-Hurtado, UT Tyler, Middle Blocker, Sr., Kinesiology, McKinney, Texas
Senior Dakota Rogers-Hurtado totaled eight blocks and posted a .630 hit percentage between UT Tyler wins at Midwestern State and Sul Ross State. The middle blocker’s defensive play helped the Patriots hold opponents to a combined .097 hitting percentage as she recorded eight blocks, five of which were solo, to break the UT Tyler volleyball career solo blocks record in notching the 86th of her career.. Rogers-Hurtado aided the UT Tyler offense with 17 kills (2.8 ave.) without a single hitting error in 27 swings.
 
SETTER
Adeline Ortman, Angelo State, Setter, Gr., MBA, Rhome, Texas
The Angelo State offense hit .363 in sweeps against Cameron and Oklahoma Christian behind setter Adeline Ortman who averaged a double-double. The graduate student totaled 26 assists and seven digs in two sets against CU before posting a 34-assist, 15-dig performance against Oklahoma Christian, where ASU hit .505 for the match. Ortman averaged 12 assists and 4.4 digs per set, adding three kills, three aces, and a pair of blocks to her two-game totals.
 
FRESHMAN
Kaycee Cavanaugh, West Texas A&M, Outside Hitter, Fr., Troy, Texas
Kaycee Cavanaugh put together an all-round game as West Texas A&M stretched its win streak to 15 matches with road victories at Texas A&M International and Texas A&M-Kingsvillle. The freshman outside hitter registered 23 kills on 45 swings with five attack errors to hit .400 on the weekend, adding five blocks, 24 digs, and an assist and ace for 26.5 points (3.79 per set). She opened with 12 kills and 25 digs vs. TAMIU for her seventh double-double of the year followed by an 11 kill and nine dig night vs. TAMUK.
