The upper half of the Lone Star Conference volleyball standings held in week 8, but the week 9 schedule provides opportunity for teams hovering in the middle to make a play for one of the eight LSC Tournament seeds. All 17 teams have four league games remaining on their 2024 schedules.  …  West Texas A&M remains undefeated in the conference (12-0) with both Angelo State and UT Tyler behind at one loss each (11-1).

NCAA Volleyball Championship. The first regional rankings release on Wednesday (Nov. 6) in alphabetical order. Numerical ranking lists follow on Nov. 13 and Nov. 20.  …  The 2024 Division II national tournament bracket is announced Nov. 25 via NCAA.com online selection show at 6:30 p.m. CT. Tournament play begins with Regionals Dec. 5-8 at campus sites and concludes in Sioux City, S.D., and the Dec. 12-14 Finals.

OFFENSIVE
Emma Becker, West Texas A&M, Outside Hitter, Jr., Communications, Liberty Hill, Texas
Outside hitter Emma Becker led the offense for No. 6 West Texas A&M who pushed its win streak to 13 matches with sweeps of Cameron and Sul Ross State. In the LSC wins, Becker registered 23 kills on 39 swings with just two errors for a .538 attack percentage, adding five digs and three blocks and averaging 4.08 points per set.
 
DEFENSIVE
Cara Pool, Texas Woman’s, Middle Blocker, Gr., Kinesiology, Double Oak, Texas
Cara Pool led Texas Woman’s net protection in a pair of wins vs. Texas A&M-Kingsville and Texas A&M International. The middle blocker totaled 10 blocks as the Pioneers held the duo to a combined .172 hit percentage. Pool totaled 24 kills (.375 attack pct.) and 29.5 points (4.21) as the Pioneers stretched their win streak to 10 games.
 
SETTER
Adeline Ortman, Angelo State, Setter, Gr., MBA, Rhome, Texas
Adeline Ortman averaged a double-double as Angelo State hit .230 in road wins over St. Edward's and St. Mary's. The setter directed the ASU offense to a.230 hitting attack after opening the weekend with 35 assists and a pair of aces vs. SEU and following with 56 assists, 18 digs, three blocks, and a pair of aces in the five-set comeback victory vs. StMU. Ortman recorded her eighth double-double of 2024 and a fourth match with 50 or more assists vs. the Rattlers.
 
FRESHMAN
Taylor Alston, St. Mary’s, Outside Hitter, Fr., Psychology, San Antonio, Texas
Outside hitter Taylor Alston recorded back-to-back career-highs in kills with 12 in a four-set win over Lubbock Christian and 16 in a five-set loss to #14 Angelo State. Over the weekend set, Alston posted a 3.11 kill average behind a .244 attack percentage, including a .295 attack and career-best five digs vs. ASU in a match the Rattlers took the Rambelles to the wire.
