With the first eight weeks of the 2024-25 season in the books, the 16 Lone Star Conference women’s basketball teams take a break to enjoy the holidays. The competition schedule resumes January 3 and it's all LSC for the next nine weeks leading to March 6 and the opening round of the 2025 LSC Women’s Basketball Tournament
(Frisco, Texas).
Eastern New Mexico, Angelo State and Texas Woman’s each open 2025 with winning streaks. ENMU (10-1, 5-0 LSC) closed its December schedule with a road win at Texas A&M-Kingsville and its league-leading eighth consecutive victory. The Greyhounds lead the LSC averaging 76.7 points while outscoring opponents by 22.7 points per game. … Three wins in the pre-break week, including a pair of Ws vs. RMAC opponents, pushed the ASU (8-3, 4-1 LSC) win streak to six games while TWU posted LSC road wins at Western New Mexico and Sul Ross State for a five-game win streak. ... Oklahoma Christian, St. Edward's, Texas A&M International, West Texas A&M and Midwestern State join UTT, ASU, TWU and ENMU in posting a win the last game before the season break.
In the first half of the season, LSC players have taken advantage at the free throw line with five individuals shooting better than 80 percent. West Texas A&M’s Kyla Kane (.875) and Grace Foster of Lubbock Christian (.861) lead free throw percentage followed by Shamica Smith (Cameron) at .844 and Averee Kleinhaus (TWU) and Kate Bradley (Oklahoma Christian) both shooting .800. … A pair of senior forwards sit atop the LSC scoring list. Zarria Carter (Midwestern State) averages 19.3 points with Grace Foster (LCU) right behind at 19.1 ppg. Carter also leads all LSC rebounders with an 11.9 average.
November and December provided opportunities for LSC teams to face South Central Region rivals from the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) in matchups that will figure into Division II postseason regional tournament berths. In the 43 LSC vs. RMAC games through December 22, the Lone Star Conference posted a 30-13 (.698) record with four teams unbeaten in games against their RMAC opponents: LCU (4-0), UT Tyler (3-0), Texas Woman's (3-0) and Eastern New Mexico (3-0).

OFFENSIVE

Forward Ella Bradley lit up the scoring for UT Tyler at the Las Vegas Holiday Hoops Classic behind hot shooting performances from the field (.666; 14-of-21) and at the line (.800, 8-of-10). In the tournament opening 57-52 loss vs. #3 Montana State Billings, Bradley scored a career-high 21 points that included a career-best five three pointers without a miss from deep. The senior also chipped in two steals, two rebounds, and a block. Bradley came back against #25 Embry-Riddle scoring 15 points, including three more three pointers, adding eight assists and four rebounds in the 76-64 win.
DEFENSIVE
Ishuana Hunter, Eastern New Mexico, F, Sr., University Studies, Trenton, N.J.
Senior forward Ishuana Hunter put in an all-around performance in the Eastern New Mexico 56-48 LSC road win over Texas A&M-Kingsville helping the Greyhounds secure their best start in program history (10-1). One of the top defensive players in the Conference, Hunter tallied four steals and a season-high eight rebounds to lead an ENMU defense that held the Javelinas' offense under their season scoring average and shooting percentage. On the offensive side, Hunter scored a game high 18 points – 16 points in the first half – to lead the Greyhounds.
