The LSC has two of the top four ranked teams in the country, according to the National Association of Basketball Coaches Top 25 Poll. WT is the No. 1 team in the country for the third straight week (receiving all 16 first-place votes), while DBU is at No. 4.
 
WT (16-0) is the only team in the 16-team league unbeaten in conference play. DBU is 14-2, while Lubbock Christian is 13-3. Cameron (11-6), St. Edward’s (10-6), Eastern New Mexico (10-6) and Angelo State (10-7) have also reached double-digit league wins. Texas A&M International is one win away at 9-8. WT is on a league-best 19-game winning streak and has not lost away from home all season (13-0). DBU has won five straight game, while LCU has prevailed in four consecutive contests.
 
DBU has the league’s top-scoring offense (90 points per game), while TAMIU is tops in the conference by allowing just 66.7 points per game.
 
Individually, ENMU’s Jahcoree Ealy leads the league in scoring at 21.8 points per game, followed by DBU’s Cameron Kahn (20.1) and WT’s Larry Wise (19.7). UTPB’s Lathaniel Bastian is pulling down a league-high 10.8 rebounds per game, followed by St. Mary’s Lachlan Bofinger (8.8) and LCU’s Tiras Morton (8.5). St. Edward’s Blake Nielsen is the LSC’s assists leader (4.7 per game). Midwestern State’s Duncan Alevok has the most blocked shots (36), while DBU’s Ta’Jay Dunlap averages a league-high two steals per game.
 
LSC teams carry a combined 42-33 (.560) record against NCAA Division II non-conference opponents. Region-by-region: South Central (RMAC) 21-20; Atlantic 1-0; Central 13-8; East 1-0; Midwest 1-1; South 2-0; Southeast 1-0; and West 2-4.
 
The LSC Basketball Championship will again be held at Comerica Center in Frisco, Texas. The men’s field will be compiled of the top eight teams, based on conference-only standings. Division champions will automatically qualify for the LSC tournament, but are not guaranteed a top 2 seed. The men’s games will be held March 7 (quarterfinals), 9 (semifinals) and 10 (final).

LONE STAR CONFERENCE MEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK: Games Feb. 8-10
 
OFFENSIVE
Tiras Morton, Lubbock Christian, F, Gr., Kinesiology, Austin, Texas (Buda Hays HS)
Morton averaged 22.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists to fuel a pair of conference road wins against Angelo State and UT Permian Basin. Morton, who was the leading scorer and rebounder in both games, also added three steals and two blocks. He hit 14 of 16 free throws. Against UTPB, Morton had a season-high 25 points to help the Chaparrals overcome an 18-point deficit. Morton has won the league’s top weekly defensive award twice this season. This is his first honor on the offensive side.
 
DEFENSIVE
Olaverr Camacho, Texas A&M International, F, Jr., Business Administration, Santa Rosa, Guatemala (Ribet Academy)
Camacho had 11 defensive rebounds, five blocks, a steal and led a unit that allowed just 58 points per game over conference wins against UAFS and Oklahoma Christian. Comacho also averaged 11 points – on 69 percent shooting – and added one assist. He had game highs in blocks each game. Comacho and company held UAFS to 19 first-half points.
