Celebrating Division II. February 22 is a special date for Division II as 293 active member institutions, 23 conferences and over 126,000 student-athletes join together to celebrate DII Day – 2/22. The day serves as an opportunity for all associated with Division II to highlight the impact of athletics and student-athletes on their campuses and communities.

Postseason Tournaments on the Horizon
LSC Tournament: Eight teams advance to the 2024 LSC Women's Basketball Championship Tournament scheduled March 8-10 at Comerica Center in Frisco, Texas. The tournament bracket will be announced March 2 following conclusion of LSC regular season play. To the tournament winner goes the league’s automatic berth in the NCAA Division II Women’s Basketball Championship.

Guard Karley Motschenbacher led West Texas A&M in wins over Eastern New Mexico and Western New Mexico, shooting 60 percent from the floor (9-of-15) and 94.4 percent from the line (17-of-18) to average 18.5 points for the week. Against ENMU, the junior scored 19 points to go over 1,000 career points to become the 25th player in WTAMU history to reach the plateau. She added 10 rebounds to mark her 13th double-double at West Texas A&M. Motschenbacher closed the week with an 18-point showing against Western New Mexico, completing the two games with 14 rebounds, two assists and two steals.
DEFENSIVE
Zyniah Thomas, UAFS, G, Jr., Organizational Leadership, Dallas, Texas (Skyline HS)
Junior Zyniah Thomas posted nine steals in leading UAFS to a pair of home wins against St. Edward's and St. Mary's (Feb. 15, 17). Seven of Thomas' steals came against SEU as the Hilltoppers were held more than 15 points below their season scoring average in the 75-50 win. She closed the weekend set totaling 10 points, six rebounds and six assists vs. St. Mary's. Over the two-game stretch, the guard shot 62 percent from the floor as UAFS stayed in the hunt for a postseason tournament spot.
