LSC Baseball's All-Defensive Team released

The Lone Star Conference All-Defensive Team was announced by league officials on Wednesday (May 8) at the championship banquet in Lubbock, Texas.

The awards, which have been presented for seven years, are determined by a vote of LSC baseball head coaches based on defensive performance alone for all nine positions.

Eastern New Mexico and West Texas A&M led the way with three selections each. ENMU had junior first baseman Beau Preston, junior second baseman Demetrio Archuleta and junior outfielder Tucker Gideon on the team, while WT had junior catcher Kyle Micklus, junior shortstop Elijah Batista and junior outfielder Paul Wittman.

UT Tyler had two selections with junior catcher Blake LaBuda (tied with Micklus) and senior third baseman Austin Ochoa.

St. Edward’s and UAFS had one winner each with senior pitcher Jack Granack and senior outfielder Brandon Ulmer, respectively.

Gideon, Wittmann and Granack had 1.000 fielding percentages.

All 10 players are first-time LSC All-Defensive Team honorees.
