Academic Player of the Year Brevin McCool of Lubbock Christian leads the nine-player 2024 Lone Star Conference Baseball All-Academic Team announced by the Conference on Wednesday (May 8) at the championship banquet in Lubbock, Texas.
A junior, McCool is majoring in biology with a 4.0 grade-point average. He is a two-time LSC Baseball All-Academic honoree (2023, '24) and has earned recognition on the LSC Commissioner's Honor Roll. Entering the second weekend of the LSC Baseball Championship, McCool is batting .375 with 12 home runs, 17 doubles and a pair of triples. He also helped LCU to its first LSC regular season title.
Joining McCool on the nine-member 2024 LSC Baseball All-Academic Team are two-time LSC All-Academic picks Carson Ogilvie from LCU (2023, '24) and Easton Parrish from St. Mary's (2023, '24). First-time honorees Jacob Guerrero, Angelo State; Justin Spencer, Oklahoma Christian; Trevor Sebek, St. Edward's; Garrett, Arredondo, UT Tyler; and Dylan Fesperman and Glenn Noronha, West Texas A&M complete the team.
The LSC Baseball All-Academic team is selected by the conference sports information directors and recognizes individuals for high-level athletic and academic achievement. To be eligible for LSC academic honors, student-athletes must have played in at least 50 percent of their team’s contests; reached sophomore athletic and academic standing; completed at least one full academic year at the nominating institution; and have a minimum 3.30 cumulative grade-point average over their collegiate career.
