Softball South Central Regionals begin May 9

Five LSC teams qualify for Division II postseason

Five Lone Star Conference softball teams earned qualification to the 2024 NCAA Division II Softball Championship and will open the postseason on Thursday (May 9).
 
The Division II South Central Regional will be played May 9-10-11 at two sites: No. 1 seed West Texas A&M (Shaeffer Park/Canyon, Texas) and at No. 2 seed UT Tyler (UT Tyler Softball Field/Tyler, Texas). The two four-team sub-regionals follow a double-elimination format.
 
Canyon Site:  LSC tournament champion West Texas A&M (48-6) claimed the league's automatic berth and No. 1 seed in the regional and plays No. 8 seed Regis (32-34) in the opening round. Angelo State (37-16) is seeded No. 4 and plays No. 5 seed Oklahoma Christian (32-21) in round one.

Tyler Site: LSC tournament runner-up and No. 2 seed UT Tyler (48-8) meets conference rival St. Mary's (32-24), the No. 7 seed. A pair of Rockey Mountain Athletic Conference teams – No. 3 Colorado Christian (49-8) and No. 6 Colorado Mesa (44-9) – complete the sub-regional bracket.

The winners of the two South Central sub-regional brackets advance to meet in the May 14-15 Super Regional in a best-of-three series. The eight Super Regional winners move to the Division II finals May 19-25 at Boombah-Soldiers Creek Park in Longwood, Fla.
