Week 3 of Lone Star Conference football featured all 10 teams in action playing league games. Angelo State, No. 14 Central Washington, Midwestern State, Texas A&M-Kingsville and Western Oregon came out on top – all on the road. To read the recaps, click here.
 
ASU is the only team 2-0 in conference play, while CWU, MSU, TAMUK and WOU are also unbeaten at 1-0.
 
Eastern New Mexico has the league’s top offensive at 465 yards per game, followed by UT Permian Basin (447.3 ypg) and CWU (372.7 ypg). CWU owns the top defense, allowing just 237.3 yards per game. UTPB (269.3), TAMUK (270.3) and ASU (289.3) are also holding opponents under 300 yards per game.
 
Week 4 will feature four conference matchups – all on Saturday. Angelo State and Eastern New Mexico have a bye.

LONE STAR CONFERENCE FOOTBALL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

OFFENSIVE
Braeden Fuller, Angelo State, QB, Jr., Kinesiology, Floresville, Texas
Angelo State junior quarterback Braeden Fuller accounted for all of his team’s points in a 21-0 road win over Western New Mexico that made the Rams the conference’s only 2-0 team in league play. Fuller passed for 222 yards and two touchdowns without an interception and also ran for 81 yards and a score on 10 carries. His TD run was for 39 yards and came in the third quarter to put the Rams up 14-0. Fuller, who completed 23 passes against WNMU, has not thrown a pick in four games this season.
 
DEFENSIVE
Ryan Melton, Midwestern State, CB, Sr., Sports Management,
Midwestern State senior cornerback Ryan Melton intercepted two passes and returned one 59 yards for a touchdown to help the Mustangs to a 36-15 road win over Eastern New Mexico. Melton now has the only two-pick game in the LSC this season. His touchdown was for 59 yards and came in the third quarter. Melton also added one solo tackle and one pass break-up to lead a group that held the Greyhounds off the scoreboard in the first and fourth quarter.
 
SPECIAL TEAMS
Joseph Carlson, Midwestern State, K, Sr., Master of Business Analytics, Frisco, Texas
Midwestern State senior kicker Joseph Carslon set a school record with five field goals to help the Mustangs defeat Eastern New Mexico on the road, 36-15. Carlson connected from 28, 31, 44, 48 and 26 yards and did not miss once. He also converted all three of his extra-point tries. Carlson’s 18 points is a single-game high in the LSC this season. He has also made three kicks 48 yards or better.
