Score Updates on LSC Scoreboard
The second half of the Lone Star Conference women's basketball season got off to a solid start with a full slate of division matchups. Four teams – two in the East Division and two in the West Division – kept their division won-loss records clean as each opened 2025 with a pair of victories. UT Tyler and Texas A&M-Kingsville are 3-0 atop the East Division while Lubbock Christian and UT Permian Basin lead the West Division at 3-0.
Season standings based on the overall LSC record – games vs. all conference opponents – show six teams tied for the top spot, all with 6-1 (.857) marks: Angelo State, Eastern New Mexico, Lubbock Christian, Texas Woman's, UT Permian Basin and UT Tyler.
Seeding for the eight-team LSC Tournament is based on overall standings (22 games). The East and West Division winners automatically qualify for the LSC Tournament but are not guaranteed a top two seed.
Angelo State and Texas Woman’s carry winning streaks into the week. ASU added road wins against Western New Mexico and Sul Ross State for a league-best eight straight wins. TWU took to the road collecting wins vs. Cameron and Oklahoma Christian to move its win streak to seven games. ... Eastern New Mexico had its eight-game win streak halted by Lubbock Christian on Friday, 59-53.
Overtime games have been a rarity in the 2024-25 season with just two games extending to extra time. Angelo State took an OT win at Oklahoma Christian Dec. 14 (81-78) while St. Mary's used OT to beat Texas A&M International on Jan. 5 (76-71).
A pair of teams avoided overtime play this weekend, thanks to last-second field goals securing regulation time victories. Freshman guard Trinity Chears nailed a three-pointer to secure a 64-61 win for Texas A&M International over St. Edward's on Thursday (Jan. 3). Two days later senior forward Ishauana Hunter slipped around the Midwestern State defense for a buzzer-beating jumper in the lane and give Eastern New Mexico a 56-54 win.
