Midwestern State’s Lott named D2Football.com National Special Teams Player of the Week

After his 69-yard punt return for a touchdown to seal a 31-24 come-from-behind win, Midwestern State freshman punt returner Cedonyae Lott has been named D2Football.com’s National Special Teams Player of the Week.

With the scored tied 24-24 and 2:18 left to play against Texas A&M-Kingsville, Lott found the end zone to complete the Mustangs’ 31-24 victory. He also returned a kickoff 27 yards and caught two passes for 23 yards. It was the first career TD for Lott and the longest punt return for MSU since 2007.

Lott’s play also helped the Mustangs record their first victory of the season.

Lott became the third player from the LSC to earn D2Football.com national player of the week honors this season. UTPB junior linebacker Tristan Exline was named National Defensive Player of the Week after the first week of the year and Central Washington sophomore kick returner Beau Phillips earned the title of National Special Teams Player of the Week for Week 4.
