Four of the 17 Lone Star Conference women’s basketball teams have officially gotten their season underway: No. 3 Texas Woman’s, No. 13 Lubbock Christian, No. 20 UT Tyler and West Texas A&M, which is receiving votes in the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association Division II Top 25 Poll.
 
LSC hoops action continues this week with 13 games Friday, nine on Saturday and eight on Sunday. To see the league schedule, click here.
 
TWU is the favorite to win the LSC title this season, according the preseason poll. WT senior guard Kyla Kane was voted preseason player of the year.
 
The LSC women’s basketball tournament will feature the top eight teams and is set for March 6-8 at Comerica Center in Frisco, Texas. Tickets will go on sale in February.
 
Due to being NCAA Division II provisional members, new league member UT Dallas and Sul Ross State are not eligible for the LSC tournament but are able to win the LSC regular season title and postseason awards.

OFFENSIVE
Gabby Elliott, Texas Woman’s, F, Sr., Kinesiology, San Antonio, Texas
Texas Woman’s senior forward Gabby Elliott averaged 11.5 points, 10 rebounds and 1.5 blocks over two games at the D2CCA Tip-Off Classic in Denton, Texas. Elliott, who led the No. 3-ranked Pioneers to a season-opening 61-50 win over Wayne State, shot 55 percent from the field. She had 15 points against No. 25 Harding.
 
DEFENSIVE
Mileina Sablinskaite, UT Tyler, G, Sr., Psychology, Centro De Tecnificacion De las Islas Baleares
UT Tyler senior guard Mileina Sablinskaite pulled down 10 defensive rebounds and had a block to fuel a season-opening 55-50 win over Colorado School of Miones at the D2CCA Tip-Off Classic in Billings, Mont. Sablinskaite averaged two steals over three games and added 17 points for the No. 20-ranked Patriots. All her rebounds were on the defensive end. She added three assists
