The 2025-26 Lone Star Conference men’s basketball season is officially underway as four of the 17 teams have played. Of those, St. Edward’s (3-0), No. 25 Lubbock Christian (2-0) and West Texas A&M (2-0) have all started the season unbeaten.
 
LCU’s Amondo Miller Jr. (Small College Basketball Hall of Fame Classic) and WT’s Fontaine Williams (D2CCA Tip-Off Classic) each won Most Valuable Player at their respective tournaments.
 
LSC hoops action continues this week with two games Friday, two games Saturday and one on Sunday. To see the league schedule, click here.
 
No. 3 DBU is the favorite to win the LSC title this season, according the preseason poll. St. Mary’s senior guard Damani Claxton was voted preseason player of the year.
 
The LSC men’s basketball tournament will feature the top eight teams and is set for March 5, 7-8 at Comerica Center in Frisco, Texas. Tickets will go on sale in February.
 
Due to being NCAA Division II provisional members, new league member UT Dallas and Sul Ross State are not eligible for the LSC tournament but are able to win the LSC regular season title and postseason awards.

OFFENSIVE
Amondo Miller Jr., Lubbock Christian, G/F, Sr., Communications, Littleton, Colo.
Lubbock Christian senior guard/forward Amondo Miller Jr. averaged 28 points, 8.5 rebounds, two assists and two steals to win the Most Valuable Player award at the Small College Basketball Hall of Fame Classic in Lakeland, Fla. Miller Jr. shot 65.6 percent from the field and 42.9 from beyond the arc as the No. 25-ranked Chaps went 2-0 against UVA Wise and Augusta. He poured in a career-high 37 points against Augusta and added a block.
 
DEFENSIVE
Alex Anamekwe, Lubbock Christian, F, Sr., Humanities, McKinney, Texas
Lubbock Christian senior forward Alex Anamekwe averaged a double double with 10 rebounds per game and added four blocks and five steals as the No. 25-ranked Chaps went 2-0 at the Small College Basketball Hall of Fame Classic in Lakeland, Fla. Anamekwe averaged 16.5 points and also dished out four assists in the wins over UVA Wise and Augusta. Anamekwe and company allowed just 36.3 percent shooting and 60.5 points per game.
