Heading into the
Lone Star Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships this weekend, conference athletes have compiled 133 NCAA Division II provisional qualifying marks – 67 men and 66 women. To see the conference’s men’s and women’s top performance lists, click

The LSC Indoor Track and Field Championships are set for Feb. 21-22 (Friday-Saturday) at
Albuquerque Convention Center in Albuquerque, N.M. The conference’s nine men’s teams and 11 women’s teams will be in action. West Texas A&M is the defending conference champion on the men’s and women’s side. The Buffs have won four in a row, while the Lady Buffs have prevailed 11 consecutive years.
The NCAA Division II Championship will be held March 13-15 at Fall Creek Pavilion at Indiana State Fairgrounds in Indianapolis, Ind.

MEN’S TRACK
William Amponsah, West Texas A&M, Sr., Sports & Exercise Science, Agona Swedru, Central, Ghana
West Texas A&M senior William Amponsah broke his own school record in the 5,000 meters with a 13:33.75 at Boston University’s David Henry Valentine Invitational in Boston, Mass. He won Heat 3 and finished 17th in the field of 212 runners. Amponsah’s NCAA Division II provisional mark is second in the nation this year and tops in the conference.
MEN’S FIELD
Thomas Nieto, Texas A&M-Kingsville, Sr., Industrial Management & Applied Engineering Technology, Ibague, Colombia
Texas A&M-Kingsville senior Thomas Nieto cleared 17’3.5” (5.27m) at the Howie Ryan Invitational in Houston, Texas. The NCAA Division II provisional height is the fourth best in the entire country and second in the conference. Nieto finished as runner-up in the Division I-heavy event.
WOMEN’S TRACK
Jacent Nyamahunge, Angelo State, Sr., Coaching, Sport, Recreation and Fitness Administration, Hoima, Uganda
Angelo State senior Jacent Nyamahunge posted a 24.08 in the 200-meter dash and helped the 4x400-meter relay team record a 3:45.94 at the Jarvis Scott Invite in Lubbock, Texas. Both of those times were good for NCAA Division II provisional status. Nyamahunge’s 200 time ranks 11th in the country and tops in the conference. The 4x400 time with teammates Shackelia Green, Kylie Frush and Lainey Jernigan ranks 25th in the nation.
WOMEN’S FIELD
Jazmin Ray, Texas A&M-Kingsville, Sr., Electrical Engineering, Tyler, Texas
Texas A&M-Kingsville senior Jazmin Ray recorded a program-record 12.39m in the triple jump at the Howie Ryan Invitational in Houston, Texas. The NCAA Division II provisional mark ranks seventh in the nation and best in the conference. She finished as runner-up in the event, behind only a NCAA Division I competitor.
