LSC Indoor Track and Field Release - Week 4

Lone Star Conference indoor track and field athletes continue to add to their NCAA Division II provisional qualifying mark total. It is now 115 – 57 men and 58 women. To see the conference’s men’s and women’s top performance lists, click here.

The LSC Indoor Track and Field Championships are set for Feb. 21-22 at Albuquerque Convention Center in Albuquerque, N.M. West Texas A&M is the defending conference champion on the men’s and women’s side. The Buffs have won four in a row, while the Lady Buffs have prevailed 11 consecutive years.
 
The NCAA Division II Championship will be held March 13-15 at Fall Creek Pavilion at Indiana State Fairgrounds in Indianapolis, Ind.

MEN’S TRACK
Aziz Mohammed, West Texas A&M, Jr., Sports and Exercise Science, Dunkwa-On-Offin, Central, Ghana
West Texas A&M junior Aziz Mohammed set a school record in the mile with a 4:04.17 to win the New Mexico Team Open in Albuquerque, N.M. Mohammed, who takes the league’s top weekly track award for the second time this season, has the second-best mark in all of NCAA Division II this year. He also posted another provisional mark, running a 1:52.34 in the 800 meters that ranks top 25 in the country.
 
MEN’S FIELD
Oleg Ananyev, Angelo State, Fr., Management, Irkutsk, Russia
Angelo State freshman Oleg Ananyev won the pole vault at the Stan Scott Invites in Lubbock, Texas with a 17-4.5 (5.30m). Ananyev, who wins the conference’s top weekly field award for the second consecutive week, has jumped the top two heights in the LSC this season. The jump in Lubbock would give him two of the top four marks in the entire country this season.
 
WOMEN’S TRACK
West Texas A&M Distance Medley Relay (Kalkidan Vincendeau, Blessing Akintoye, Abigail Abugire, Eliette Chaput)
The West Texas A&M Distance Medley Relay Team of Kalkidan Vincendeau, Blessing Akintoye, Abigail Abugire and Eliette Chaput ran the second fastest time in school history at the New Mexico Team Open in Albuquerque, N.M. The team recorded an NCAA Division II provisional time of 11:28.34. The altitude converted time of 11:17.92 is the third fastest time in the country this season.
 
WOMEN’S FIELD
Meadow Gallentine, West Texas A&M, Jr., Psychology, Anson, Texas
West Texas A&M junior Meadow Gallentine registered a 19.09 (62-7 ¾) in the weight throw at the Stan Scott Invites in Lubbock, Texas. Gallentine, who wins the league’s top weekly field award for the second consecutive week, owns the third best throw in all of NCAA Division II. The throw in Lubbock earned her a third-place finish behind NCAA Division I opponents and moved her to No. 6 on WT’s all-time list. Gallentine concluded her meet with a toss of 12.91m (42-4 ¼) in the shot put.
