Cameron senior third baseman Lance Barnett became the Lone Star Conference’s first national weekly award winner of the season, earning the title of National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association National Hitter of the Week on Feb. 6.
Barnett started his season with a bang, hitting .563 with three home runs, a triple, three doubles and 10 RBI in a four-game road series against Texas A&M International. The Fort Worth, Texas native also scored eight runs, walked four times, was hit by a pitch and stole a base. In the series finale to help produce a split, Barnett went 5-for-5 with three homers and a triple. He played errorless defense in the field.
Barnett was also named LSC Hitter of the Week on Feb. 3 and NCBWA South Central Region Hitter of the Week on Feb. 4.
