LSC Women's Basketball postseason awards announced; Lubbock Christian’s Foster selected Player of the Year

 
Lubbock Christian senior forward Grace Foster claimed Lone Star Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Year honors to headline the league’s 2025 postseason awards, it was announced Wednesday (March 5) during the annual championship banquet at Main Event in Frisco, Texas, ahead of the LSC Women's Basketball Championship, which is set to tip off Thursday at Comerica Center. 
 
The 2025 LSC Player of the Year award is the second for Foster who was the 2023 award recipient. A three-time All-Conference First Team selection (2023, ’24, ’25), Foster averaged 19.1 points, 7.0 rebounds and 2.4 assists against the league to help Lubbock Christian to the LSC regular-season co-championship and the West Division title. She ranks among the LSC top five in scoring; field goal (.519), three-point field goal (.400), and free throw (.884) percentage; and blocked shots (1.4).
 
Midwestern State senior forward Zarria Carter was named Defensive Player of the Year after leading the LSC in steals (2.5 spg) and rebounds (10.2 rpg). MSU guard/forward Kerbie Cash earned Freshman of the Year honors averaging 15 points and 8.0 rebounds in conference games. Newcomer of the Year honors were claimed by UT Permian Basin guard and graduate student Taysha Rushton who averaged 18.0 points and 3.1 assists against LSC opponents. Texas Woman’s junior guard Averee Kleinhans (9.2 ppg, 2.5 apg) was named Sixth Woman of the Year.
 
Lubbock Christian head coach Steve Gomez was voted LSC Noel Johnson Coach of the Year. Gomez, who earned his second Coach of the Year honor (2021, ’25), directed the Lady Chapparals to the LSC regular-season co-championship (21-1) and a perfect 14-0 run to the West Division title.
 
Overall, 41 student-athletes earned LSC women’s basketball recognition as voted by the 16 LS head coaches.
