FRISCO, Texas – In a matchup between the two top teams in the conference, region and country, both with winning streaks that began back in 2024 and both led by players with LSC Player of the Year on their resumes, Sunday’s LSC Championship was expected to be a classic.

That’s exactly what Texas Woman's and Lubbock Christian provided at Comerica Center, battling into overtime. But in the end, No. 1 seed TWU was just too much as the Pioneers prevailed 73-66 to repeat as tournament champions and claim the league's automatic berth in the NCAA Division II tournament. TWU (31-1) has now won 25 straight games while the Lady Chaps (29-4) saw their own 19-game winning streak come to an end.

Ashley Ingram, a three-time All-LSC first-team pick, carried TWU again, finishing with 28 points and six rebounds to win tournament MVP. She was joined by teammates Scout Huffman and Leila Patel, who both hit go-ahead buckets for the Pioneers in the final four minutes of regulation.

The win assures TWU, the No. 1 team in the country, of staying as the No. 1 seed in the South Central Region.

For the Lady Chaps, they entered the tourney as the No. 2 seed in the region and could stay there with a possible rematch against LCU next weekend.

But as expected, Sunday’s final could have gone either way with the Lady Chaps leading for the majority of the game. LCU led by one at halftime and one at the end of the third, and in the final 10 minutes no team held more than a three-point lead.

The Lady Chaps led 56-54 but TWU’s Leila Patel drained a corner 3-pointer to give TWU the lead only momentarily. Maci Maddox gave LCU the lead with a jumper, only to be answered by Huffman’s jumper for TWU, which led 59-58 with 2:53 remaining.

LCU took the lead back on Grace Foster’s 3-pointer but Huffman again hit a big shot to tie the game.

With 44 seconds to play, Maddox hit a jumper for another LCU lead. Although TWU missed a shot and the Chaps secured a rebound under their basket, a five-second violation on the ensuing inbound pass gave the ball back to the Pioneers. From there, they leaned on Ingram, who hit a driving layup to tie the game with 16 seconds left. Maddox’s baseline jumper for the win missed and the game went to overtime.

In the extra session, TWU never trailed as Kayla Glover opened the scoring with a layup and then Ingram hit five more free throws as the Pioneers pulled away.

Joining Ingram on the All-Tournament team were Huffman and Patel for TWU and Foster and Maddox for LCU.

Huffman had 21 points and four rebounds, while Patel had 11 points and four rebounds. Glover also had seven points (five in overtime) and six rebounds.

For LCU, Foster had 21 points and 10 rebounds and Maddox scored 24 with five assists.

TWU Notes:
  • TWU has now won 25 straight games and currently rank No. 1 in the South Central Regional rankings.
  • TWU became the first team to win consecutive LSC Tournaments since Lubbock Christian cut down the nets in 2020 and 2021.
  • After winning its sixth straight game in the LSC Tournament, TWU is now 17-17 overall in the tourney, with three titles (2011, 2024, 2025).
  • Ashley Ingram earned her third-straight selection on the All-Tournament team. Huffman made the all-tournament team in 2023. Huffman and Ingram are the only players in school history to make the all-tournament team multiple times.
  • Since Huffman and Ingram joined the TWU program, the Pioneers are 111-21 with two conference tournament titles.
  • The Pioneers had the best rebounding margin in the LSC this year at 7.4 per game. But held just a 32-30 edge overall and trailed at the end of regulation in rebounds 28-27.
LCU Notes:
  • LCU’s 19-game winning streak occurred in between a road loss to TWU in Denton (Dec. 6) and the overtime loss to the Pioneers Sunday in the LSC Tournament.
  • After becoming one of three players in LSC Tournament history to hit a perfect 12-of-12 free throws in a game, Grace Foster was just 2-of-2 on Sunday. She was the LSC’s second-leading free throw shooter at .879.
  • Maci Maddox, the LSC leader in assists at 4.0 per game, had five assists to lead the Chaps, but also scored 24.
  • The 24 points scored by Maddox is her season-high and marked just the third time she led the team in scoring for a game.
  • Maddox also ranks second in the LSC in minutes per game at 36 but played the entire 45 minutes, the only player for either team to not leave the floor.
