Heidi Vortherms leads LSC Softball Academic Team

 
Academic Player of the Year Heidi Vortherms of West Texas A&M University leads the nine-player 2025 Lone Star Conference Softball All-Academic Team announced by the Conference on Wednesday (April 30).
 
A graduate student, Vortherms is a sports and exercise science master’s degree student who posts a 4.0 grade-point average both as an undergraduate and graduate student. She has earned recognition on the LSC Commissioner's Honor Roll. A pitcher for the Lady Buffs, Vortherms has thrown 109.2 innings over 23 appearances, compiling a 18-1 record and 1.85 ERA this season.
 
Joining Vortherms on the nine-member LSC Softball All-Academic Team are Cheyenne Floyd, Angelo State; Kate Paulsen, Oklahoma Christian; Katie Dillon, St. Edward’s; Kristina Nash, Texas A&M-Kingsville; Kaylee Davis and Sam Schott, UT Tyler; and Emilee Boyer and Emily Liskai, West Texas A&M.
 
Four of the nine honored athletes are each two-time LSC Softball All-Academic Team members: Floyd, Dillon, Schott and Boyer.
 
Selected by vote of the LSC sports information directors, the Softball All-Academic Team recognizes student-athlete accomplishments in the classroom and in their sport. To be eligible for the All-Academic Team ballot, individuals must maintain a 3.30 cumulative grade-point average and have reached sophomore athletic eligibility.
 
Vortherms will be a candidate for the 2024-25 LSC Fred Jacoby Academic Athlete of the Year award to be announced in June.
