No. 21 Central Washington wins Rodeo Bowl over Colorado Mesa, 41-14: Central Washington used a big third quarter to break free from Colorado Mesa to earn a 41-14 Rodeo Bowl victory in Ellensburg, Wash. It took four plays for the Wildcats to put the first numbers on the board as Kennedy McGill found a wide-open Jalen Grable for the first NCAA Division II touchdown of the 2025 season, coming in at 51 yards. McGill finished the game as the top passer and the top rusher, going 8-for-13 passing for 190 yards and two touchdowns with 13 rushes for 135 yards and two rush TDs. Defensively, the Wildcats were led by Chase Coalson, who had 10 tackles and two pass breakups. King Williams added nine tackles, a half tackle for loss, and a pass breakup. Complete Release
 

 
West Texas A&M falls on the road to No. 10 Western Colorado, 45-28: West Texas A&M started fast before falling to No. 10 Western Colorado during the 2025 season opener in Gunnison, Colo. The Buffs took the opening kickoff 75 yards on five plays, finished off by a Sean Johnson rushing score from six yards out for a 7-0 lead. RJ Martinez was impressive in his first game as a Buff, completing 22 of 37 passes for 262 yards and a pair of touchdowns. He also carried the ball seven times for 26 yards and a score. Javin Cash led the way defensively for WT with seven total tackles (two solo). The game was tied 21-21 at halftime and 28-28 in the third quarter. Complete Release
 

 
No. 13 Angelo State top Fort Hays State, 28-7: No. 13 Angelo State opened the 2025 campaign with a victory as the Rams defeated Fort Hays State 28-7 on the road. The victory marks the 50th win for head coach Jeff Girsch, who becomes the fastest coach to reach that milestone in program history. LSC Preseason Offensive Player of the Year Braeden Fuller continued where he left off a season ago, throwing for 177 yards and three touchdowns, completing 63 percent of his passes on the night. ASU finished with 366 total yards of offense. The Rams held the Tigers scoreless in the first quarter while Marquis Brown recorded an interception. Brown was the leading tackler for the Rams, finishing the night with 13 stops. Complete Release
 

 
Eastern New Mexico falls to New Mexico Highlands, 34-28: Eastern New Mexico began the season with a 34-28 loss to New Mexico Highlands. The Greyhounds limited the Cowboys to just 43 total yards and forced three turnovers over the first 25 minutes of the contest. ENMU shined was through the air with 200 passing yards, its most in a single game since Oct. 14, 2023. ENMU quarterback Chad Ragle threw for two scores and ran for another. Gerry Gomez led all pass catchers with four receptions for 94 yards and caught both TDs. ENMU also ran for 228 yards. Defensively, both Aaron Warren and Charley Pitt forced fumbles and J.J. Silver had an interception and tied his career high with eight tackles. Complete Release
 

 
UT Permian Basin upsets No. 5 Central Oklahoma, 34-14: UT Permian Basin kicked off the 2025 season with a 34-14 nonconference win against No. 5 Central Oklahoma at Astound Broadband Stadium. The Falcons outscored the defending MIAA champion Bronchos 21-0 to end the game. UTPB quarterback Kanon Gibson passed for two touchdowns and ran for 78 yards on 20 carries. Traylen Suel caught second passes for 95 yards and a score. LSC Preseason Defensive Player of the Year Tristan Exline had nine tackles – one for loss – one sack and one interception Layne Horak also had a sack. UTPB’s Angel Diaz made four field goals with the longest being 44 yards. It was the first-ever matchup between UTPB and UCO.  Complete Release
 


Midwestern State falls to Missouri Southern, 33-19: Missouri Southern defeated Midwestern St. 33-19 with a strong rushing attack contributing three touchdowns at Fred G. Hughes Stadium. This marked the first time Midwestern State played the Lions in Joplin, Mo. MSU opened the first quarter with a quick strike, as Jakolby Longino connected with Demonte Greene on a flea-flicker 75-yard touchdown just 13 seconds into the quarter, giving the Mustangs an early 7-0 lead. Longino led the Mustangs offense with 359 passing yards on 31 of 38 attempts, adding one touchdown through the air and another on the ground. Greene was a standout target, hauling in six receptions for 143 yards. On the defensive side, Noah Bustard made significant contributions with a team-high 10 tackles. Complete Release
 


Western New Mexico rallies past Adams State, 35-21: Western New Mexico opened its 2025 season in thrilling fashion, storming back from a 14-point deficit to defeat Adams State 35-21 at Ben Altamirano Field. The Mustangs now have a six-game win streak against the Grizzlies. Western New Mexico had 405 total yards to Adams State's 274. The Mustangs converted on four fourth downs and finishing a perfect 4-for-4 in the red zone. WNMU got fourth-quarter rushing TDs from  Zay Savoie and Anthony Flores. WNMU quarterback Connor Ackerley threw for 227 yards and two TDs – one to Deuce Zimmerman (five catches for 115 yards). Defensively, Clayton Zenter had six tackles, one interception, one forced fumble and a fumble return. Complete Release
 


Sul Ross State falls to Division I UT Rio Grande Valley, 66-0: Sul Ross State fell to Division I UT Rio Grande Valley 66-0 in the inaugural game for the Vaqueros in front of 12,726 fans at Robert and Janet Vackar Stadium. SRSU’s Brandon Martin made a game-high 11 tackles – one for loss – and George Fatoke added seven stops. SRSU quarterback Andrew Martinez completed 9 of 12 passes. Complete Release
