The 2025 Lone Star Conference men’s soccer season is officially underway as all 11 teams have played at least one match.
 
No. 10 Midwestern State, St. Edward’s, St. Mary’s, Texas A&M International, UT Tyler and West Texas A&M have not lost a match.
 
MSU is the favorite to win the LSC title this season, according the preseason poll. SEU’s Arthur Souza and StMU teammates Luke Mulkey and Johnny Thurbin were voted preseason players of the year.
 
The LSC men's soccer tournament will be comprised of the top six teams and is scheduled for Nov. 8 (quarterfinals), Nov. 12 (semifinals) and Nov. 15 (final). The quarterfinals will be held on campus of the No. 3 and No. 4 seeds; the semifinals are hosted by the No. 1 and No. 2 seed; and title match will be hosted by the highest remaining seed.

LONE STAR CONFERENCE MEN’S SOCCER PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

(Sept. 4-7 matches)
 
OFFENSIVE
Pedro Lucas, Lubbock Christian, F, Jr., Business Administration, Sao Paulo, Brazil
Lubbock Christian junior forward Pedro Lucas totaled seven points over the first two matches of the season – both on the road. Lucas had the Chaps’ lone goal against No. 6 Fort Lewis and then scored twice with an assist in a win over Adams State. His five points in one match was the most by an LCU player in nearly two years. Lucas finished with six shots – four on goal.
 
DEFENSIVE
Luke Mulkey, St. Mary’s, D, Sr., Management, Parker, Texas
St. Mary’s senior defender Luke Mulkey helped fuel a pair of shutouts against ranked opponents on the road to begin the season. Mulkey, who is the LSC Preseason Defensive Player of the Year, led a unit that surrendered just seven shots over a draw with No. 3 Colorado State-Pueblo and a 1-0 victory against No. 17 Colorado-Colorado Springs.
 
GOALKEEPER
Johnny Thurbin, St. Mary’s, GK, Sr., Finance and Risk Management, Lingfield, Surrey, England
St. Mary’s senior goalkeeper Johnny Thurbin posted back-to-back shutouts on the road to open the season against No. 3 Colorado State-Pueblo and No. 17 Colorado-Colorado Springs. Thurbin, who is the LSC Preseason Goalkeeper of the Year, had four stops in a 0-0 draw against CSU Pueblo and three in a 1-0 win over UCCS. He played all 180 minutes.
