Score Updates on LSC Scoreboard
The Lone Star Conference tennis season has arrived, and 15 of the 20 league teams (nine men’s and 11 women’s) have played at least one match.
Of those squads, 10 are unbeaten: St. Mary’s (3-0), Cameron (2-0), No. 7 UT Tyler (2-0) and No. 18 Midwestern State (1-0) on the men’s side and No. 18 UT Tyler (3-0), Angelo State (2-0), Cameron (1-0), No. 8 Midwestern State (1-0), Texas A&M-Kingsville (1-0) and Western New Mexico (1-0) on the women’s side.
February is filled with non-conference matches. LSC play will begin as early as March 4.

The
LSC Tennis Championships are scheduled for April 30-May 2 at
Arlington Tennis Center in Arlington, Texas. The men’s and women’s single-elimination tournaments will feature the top five men’s teams and top six women’s teams.
The NCAA Division II Men’s and Women’s regionals will be held at campus sites from May 8-12, while nationals are set for May 19-24 at Surprise Tennis and Raquet Complex in Surprise, Ariz.
Due to being NCAA Division II provisional members, UT Dallas and Sul Ross State are not eligible for the LSC or NCAA tournament but are eligible to win the LSC regular season title and postseason awards.

MEN’S SINGLES
Lukas Janousek, Cameron, So., Sports and Exercise Science, Czechia
Cameron sophomore Lukas Janousek began the spring season unbeaten at No. 1 singles with victories against Southern Arkansas and Southeastern Oklahoma State. Janousek won 6-1, 6-3 against Southern Arkansas and 6-1, 6-0 against Southeastern Oklahoma State. He also went 2-0 at No. 1 doubles. Janousek’s play has helped the Aggies to a 2-0 start to the year.
MEN’S DOUBLES
Malo Poulesquen (So., Management, Grenoble, France) & Carel Wessel (Sr., Finance, Bucharest, Romania), UT Tyler
Malo Poulesquen and Carel Wessel of UT Tyler got off to a strong start to the season by winning a pair of No. 1 doubles matches against Northeastern State and Southwest Baptist. The duo topped Northeastern State 6-3 before defeating Southwest Baptist 6-2. Their play, which included going unbeaten in singles, helped the No. 7-ranked Patriots to a 2-0 start to the spring.
WOMEN’S SINGLES
Hailey Zhang, UT Tyler, Fr., Nursing, Plano, Texas
UT Tyler freshman Hailey Zhang began her dual match career with a 3-0 record in singles play. She won in straight sets against Central Oklahoma (No. 3) and Southwest Baptist (No. 1). Playing at No. 2 against Northeastern State, she bounced back from a 3-6 loss in set one to prevail 7-6 (7-3), 6-1. Her play, which also included going 2-0 in doubles, helped lead the No. 18-ranked Patriots to a 3-0 start to the season.
WOMEN’S DOUBLES
Gia Posito (Sr., Psychology, Houston, Texas) & Selina Wu (Jr., Nursing, San Gabriel, Calif.), St. Mary’s
Gia Posito and Selina Wu of St. Mary’s are off to a 5-0 record in No. 1 doubles, including a win over NCAA Division I Eastern Washington. Posito and Wu topped the Eastern Washington duo 6-2 to begin the season. Two of their five victories were 6-0 results. Their play, which included going unbeaten in singles, has led the No. 12-ranked Rattlers to a 4-1 record.
