With three weeks remaining in the Lone Star Conference women’s basketball games regular season, No. 3 Texas Woman’s (20-1 overall) is alone in first place at 14-0.
TWU has now won 19 games in a row and is unbeaten on the road (11-0).
No. 7 West Texas A&M (21-2, 13-1 LSC) is alone in second place and has won back-to-back games.
Angelo State (11-9, 9-5 LSC) has won six straight games and eight of its last nine.
TWU is the favorite to win the LSC title this season, according the
preseason poll. WT senior guard Kyla Kane was voted
preseason player of the year.
The LSC women’s basketball tournament will feature the top eight teams and is set for March 6-8 at
Comerica Center in Frisco, Texas. Tickets will go on sale Friday (Feb. 13).
Due to being NCAA Division II provisional members, new league member UT Dallas and Sul Ross State are not eligible for the LSC tournament but are able to win the LSC regular season title and postseason awards.

Texas Woman’s senior forward Gabby Elliott averaged a double-double of 19.5 points and 14 rebounds to lead the No. 3-ranked Pioneers to wins over UT Tyler and No. 20 Lubbock Christian. Elliott, who wins the league’s top weekly offensive award for the fourth time this season, shot 61.5 percent from the floor and made seven of her nine free-throw attempts. She also added an assist as TWU extended its winning streak to 19 games. In a 67-53 victory over LCU, she had a game-high 18 points and eclipsed 1,000 career points for her career.
DEFENSIVE
Taylor Jackson, Oklahoma Christian, F, Sr., Marriage and Family Therapy, McKinney, Texas
Oklahoma Christian senior forward Taylor Jackson averaged seven rebounds and 3.5 steals to go along with 18 points per game against Eastern New Mexico and No. 7 West Texas A&M. Jackson, who wins the league’s top weekly defensive award for the second consecutive week, also had a block and an assist. Jackson fueled a unit that held ENMU to just 55 points – its second fewest in conference this season – and 35.6 percent shooting. In the victory against the Greyhounds, Jackson had 19 points, seven boards, three steals and a block. She is averaging 10.75 boards and 2.75 steals over her last four games.
