The 2026 Lone Star Conference baseball season is six weekends in and two teams are atop the standings at 16-6: No. 9 UT Tyler and No. 16 Angelo State.
St. Edward’s (15-6) is the league’s hottest team, having won six straight games – including two over UT Tyler.
In addition to SEU (vs. Sul Ross State), new league member UT Dallas also had a four-game series sweep last week (against Cameron).
TAMUK leads the league in hitting (.341), while ASU is tops in pitching (4.04 ERA). New league member UT Dallas owns the top fielding percentage (.969).
ASU’s Austin Beck was named the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA)
National Hitter of the Week on Feb. 19.
UT Tyler was voted as the favorite to win the conference title in the
LSC preseason poll. UT Tyler junior shortstop Drew Schmidt and senior left-hander Caden Copeland were named
LSC Preseason Player and Pitcher of the Year, respectively, to headline the 28 players on the
league’s Preseason Watch List.
The
LSC Baseball Championship will feature a two-week tournament. The opening round is best-of-three series and will be held May 1-3 (Friday-Sunday) at the sites of the No. 2 (vs. No. 7), 3 (vs. 6) and 4 (vs. 5) seeds. The league’s top seed will receive an opening-round bye and host the four-team, double-elimination championship round on May 7-9 (Thursday-Saturday). The LSC Tournament Champion will receive the conference’s automatic bid to the NCAA Division II Championship.
The South Central Regionals are scheduled for May 14-17 with the Super Regional following on May 21-23. The campus sites are TBD. The national finals are set for May 29-June 6 at USA Baseball National Training Complex in Cary, N.C.
Due to being NCAA Division II provisional members, UTD and Sul Ross State are not eligible for the LSC or NCAA tournament but are eligible to win the LSC regular season title and postseason awards.
