Score Updates on LSC Scoreboard
The final week of the Lone Star Conference tennis regular season is here.
On the men’s side, No. 10 Lubbock Christian (15-5 overall, 7-0 LSC) has secured
at least a shar of the regular season title. The Chaps can clinch the title outright with a win at UT Permian Basin on Saturday (April 25). No. 6 UT Tyler (9-2 overall) is in second place at 5-1. LCU holds the head-to-head advantage with a 5-2 win over UT Tyler on March 28 in Tyler, Texas.
On the women’s side, No. 26 Angelo State (18-1 overall) and No. 29 UT Tyler (15-6 overall) are tied at the top at 7-1 with each having one match remaining. ASU holds the head-to-head advantage after a 5-2 win over April 18 in San Angleo, Texas.
As far as top winning streaks on each side, the LCU men has won eight in a row and the Texas A&M-Kingsville women have won four straight.

The
LSC Tennis Championships are scheduled for April 30-May 2 at
Arlington Tennis Center in Arlington, Texas. The men’s and women’s single-elimination tournaments will feature the top five men’s teams and top six women’s teams.
The NCAA Division II Men’s and Women’s regionals will be held at campus sites from May 8-12, while nationals are set for May 19-24 at Surprise Tennis and Raquet Complex in Surprise, Ariz.
Due to being NCAA Division II provisional members, new league member UT Dallas and Sul Ross State are not eligible for the LSC or NCAA tournament but are eligible to win the LSC regular season title and postseason awards.

MEN’S SINGLES
Kelly Giese, Lubbock Christian, Jr., Management, Manhattan Beach, Calif.
Lubbock Christian junior Kelly Giese led the No. 10-ranked Chaps to a pair of road wins at No. 1 singles to secure at least a share of the LSC regular season title. Giese, who wins the league’s top weekly singles award for a fifth time this season, extended his winning streak to 18 matches. He has won 35 singles matches this fall and spring, which is a single-season program record. Giese won 6-0, 6-0 against Sul Ross State then had the clinching 6-4, 6-1 victory against Western New Mexico. His play has helped the Chaps win eight matches in a row.
MEN’S DOUBLES
Joao D’Amaorim (Fr., Management, Sao Paulo Brazil) & Nehal Naidoo (Fr., Finance, Torbay, Auckland, New Zealand), UT Permian Basin
UT Permian Basin’s Joao D'Amorim and Nehal Naidoo went 2-0 at No. 1 doubles during to fuel an unbeaten road week for the Falcons. The duo won 6-3 against Western New Mexico then 6-1 against Sul Ross State. D'Amorim and Naidoo also combined to go 4-0 in singles. Their play helped snap a four-match losing streak and was instrumental in a 4-3 victory against WNMU.
WOMEN’S SINGLES
Maya Donkor, Texas A&M-Kingsville, Gr., Biology, McLean, Virginia
Texas A&M-Kingsville graduate student Maya Donkor went unbeaten at No. 1 singles to lead the Javelinas to a pair of wins, including one against No. 27 UT Tyler. Donkor win 6-1, 6-1 against a ranked UT Tyler opponent to help fuel a 4-3 team win. She then prevailed for a 6-1, 4-6, 6-1 win against UT Dallas. Donkor’s win has helped TAMUK win four matches in a row.
WOMEN’S DOUBLES
Selin Sepken (Gr., MBA, Istanbul, Turkey) & Emilia Gyorgy (Fr., Exercise Physiology, Szentendre, Hungary), Midwestern State
Midwestern’s Selin Sepken and Emilia Gyorgy moved their conference winning streak to five matches by going 2-0 at No. 2 doubles on the road against Cameron and St. Mary’s. Sepken and Gyorgy, who win the league’s top singles award for the second time this season, defeated a CU team 6-4 then topped a StMU duo 6-1. Sepken and Gyorgy also combined for three singles victories. Theur play has helped the No. 24-ranked Mustangs win 10 of their last 12 matches.
