The Lone Star Conference cross country season is in full swing.
 
The LSC has had five team titles: UT Tyler women (UT Tyler XC Opener), UT Tyler men (UT Tyler XC Opener), Texas A&M-Kingsville men (Bearkat Twilight), DBU women (Gerald Richey UTA Invitational) and Texas A&M International men (UIW Invitational).
 
TAMIU freshman Shamil Kiprono won the individual title at the UIW Invitational.
 
WT is the favorite to win both the LSC women’s and men’s title this season, according to the preseason polls. The LSC Runners to Watch lists includes 28 women and 25 men.
 
The LSC Cross Country Championships (women’s 6K and men’s 8K) are set for Saturday, Nov. 7 at LCU Cross Country Course in Lubbock, Texas. The event will be broadcast on FloCollege.
 
The NCAA Division II South Central Regional (women’s 6K and men’s 10K) will be held Saturday, Nov. 21 also at LCU Cross Country Course.
 
The NCAA Division II Championships (women’s 6K and men’s 10K) are set for Saturday, Dec. 4 at Rim Rock Farm in Lawrence, Kan. The event will be broadcast on NCAA.com.

WOMEN’S
Lesli Salas, DBU, Sr., Commercial Art, San Anglo, Texas
DBU senior Lesli Salas ran a 17:30.3 to record a third-place finish at the 5K Gerlad Ritchey UTA Invitational in Arlington, Texas. Salas, who had the best finish of any NCAA Division II runner in the event, also helped the Patriots to the team title.
 
MEN’S & MEN’S FRESHMAN
Shamil Kiprono, Texas A&M International, Fr., Nursing, Eldoret, Kenya
Texas A&M International freshman Shamil Kiprono won the individual title with a 25:06 at the 8K UIW Invitational at Windcrest Golf Club in San Antonio, Texas. Kiprono’s performance in the field of 106 runners also helped the Dustdevils win the team title.
 
WOMEN’S FRESHMAN
Montse Guerra, DBU, Fr., Pre-Nursing, Arlington, Texas
DBU freshman Montse Guerra ran an 18:11.8 in her collegiate debut at the 5K Gerlad Ritchey UTA Invitational in Arlington, Texas. Guerra, who finished 11th and had the top time of any NCAA Division II runner at the event, helped the Patriots claim the team title.
