Lone Star Conference men’s soccer is two weeks in. All 11 teams have played at least two matches.
 
Defending NCAA Division II national champion Midwestern State (2-0-2), Texas A&M International (2-0-1) and UT Tyler (1-0-1) are still unbeaten.
 
MSU was voted the favorite to win the LSC title this season, according the preseason poll. MSU’s Parker Plaxco, Davis Mays and Jake Morris were voted preseason players of the year.
 
The LSC men's soccer tournament will be comprised of the top six teams and is scheduled for Oct. 30 (quarterfinals), Nov. 4 (semifinals) and Nov. 7 (final). The quarterfinals will be held on campus of the No. 3 and No. 4 seeds; the semifinals are hosted by the No. 1 and No. 2 seed; and title match will be hosted by the highest remaining seed.
 
All LSC men’s soccer teams are eligible to win the regular season title and advance to the LSC and NCAA Division II postseason tournaments.
 
Longtime MSU head coach Doug Elder was recently named to the LSC Hall of Honor.

LONE STAR CONFERENCE MEN’S SOCCER PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

OFFENSIVE
Aidan Williams, Texas A&M International, F, Fr., Accounting, San Antonio, Texas
Texas A&M International freshman forward Aidan Williams had both goals in a 2-0 road win over West Alabama. Williams’ game-winner came in the 58th minute. He played 65 minutes in each of the Dustdevils’ two victories (also against Sul Ross State). His play has helped the TAMIU to a 2-0-1 start to the season.
 
DEFENSIVE
Jack Golden, DBU, D, Sr., Accounting, Flower Mound, Texas
DBU senior defender Jack Golden led a unit that allowed just one goal over a two-win week on the road against Harding and Ouachita Baptist. Golden and company shut out Harding and kept OB off the board into the 85th minute. Golden played 166 minutes.
 
GOALKEEPER
Nicklas Berg-Eriksen, Texas A&M International, GK, Sr., Business Administration
Texas A&M International senior goalkeeper Nicklas Berg-Eriksen recorded consecutive shutouts in wins over West Alabama and Sul Ross State. Berg-Eriksen had two saves in each match and assisted on the game-winning goal against SRSU. His assist came in the 87th minute of the 1-0 contest. Berg-Eriksen’s play has helped the Dustdevils to an unbeaten start to the season.
