The Lone Star Conference volleyball season is two weeks in. All 18 league teams have played at least four matches.
UT Tyler is the last unbeaten teams at 8-0, while No. 9 Angelo State (8-1) and UT Permian Basin (3-1) have lost just one match.
The LSC Volleyball Challenge Weekend is set for Thursday-Saturday (Sept. 10-12). The six host teams are: ASU, St. Mary’s, Oklahoma Christian, UTPB, DBU and Texas A&M International. The matches do not count in the conference standings. To see a full schedule, click

UTT senior outside hitter Melanie Merrill was named the American Volleyball Coaches Association’s first
national player of the week of the 2026 season on Sept. 1. She is just the second player in program history to win the honor, joining Mikayla Ware (2021).
ASU is the favorite to win the LSC regular season title this season, according the
preseason poll. ASU’s Madi Parrish, Texas Woman’s Alyssa Rojo and Lubbock Christian’s Camdyn Sears were voted
preseason players of the year.
The LSC volleyball tournament will feature the top nine teams and is set for Nov. 11-14 at the site of the No. 1 seed.
All LSC volleyball teams are eligible to win the regular season title and advance to the LSC and NCAA Division II postseason tournaments.

OFFENSIVE
Sydney Thornton, Angelo State, MB, Jr., Finance, Prosper, Texas
Angelo State junior middle blocker Sydney Thornton had 43 kills with a .373 attack percentage and added 16 blocks to fuel the No. 14-ranked Rambelles to a 4-1 week against competition including No. 5 Ferris State, No. 7 MSU Denver and Bentley (receiving votes). Thornton also added 16 digs, three services aces and one assist. She had at least 12 kills and two blocks in all five matches. Thornton’s play has helped ASU to an 8-1 start to the season.
DEFENSIVE
Alyssa Rojo, Texas Woman’s, L/DS, Sr., Kinesiology, Lewisville, Texas
Texas Woman’s senior libero/defensive specialist Alyssa Rojo averaged 5.29 digs per set to fuel a 3-1 week, including a four-set win over No. 15 Central Oklahoma. Rojo, who is the LSC Preseason Defensive Player of the Year, had a match-high 19 digs in the upset of UCO. Over the four matches, Rojo added 18 assists and four service aces.
SETTER
Althea Morris, St. Edward’s, S, Jr., Business Administration, Los Angeles, Calif.
St. Edward’s junior setter Althea Morris averaged 10.44 assists per set over four matches, including victories over South Dakota Mines and Midwestern State. Morris had 48 assists against SDM – the most in a four-set match in the conference this season. She had at least 43 assists in three of the matches. Morris also added 49 digs, seven service aces, two kills and two blocks.
FRESHMAN
Cambelle Brammer, Texas A&M-Kingsville, OH, Fr., Kinesiology, Fruita, Colo.
Texas A&M-Kingsville freshman outside hitter Cambelle Brammer had 68 kills, 13 digs and seven blocks over five matches, including wins against Edinboro, Findlay and Montana State-Billings. She had a match-high 25 kills (on .488 percent hitting) against MSB, ranking sixth all-time in program history. Brammer also added three assists.
