2013 LSC Basketball Championship

LSC BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP
The Lone Star Conference Basketball Championship is set to be played in Allen, Texas, for the second time in 2013.  The tournament will feature eight men’s and eight women’s teams and is scheduled for an exciting four-day run from March 6-9. Reserve your tickets now and join your favorite team in Allen.

Tournament action starts with first-round games on Wednesday, March 6, and Thursday, March 7.  The semifinals will be played Friday, March 8. On Saturday, March 9, fans can see both the women’s and men’s championship games.

To purchase tickets for the 2013 LSC Basketball Championship, contact the ticket office at your local LSC member institution, visit the Allen Event Center Box Office or go through Ticketmaster.com.  Advanced ticket pricing is only available at the LSC schools and LSC conference office.

With three different ways to purchase the tickets this year, one will surely best fit your needs! For the college basketball fanatic and conference supporters, you can pre-purchase vouchers for all seven sessions at a discounted price if purchased before Wednesday, Feb. 27 from the ticket office of your local LSC member institution.  Want to see just your favorite men’s or women’s team? Then the Team Spirit Pass would be your perfect ticket.  You can follow your team through the entire tournament!  Purchase your team spirit pass by Wednesday, Feb. 21 from the ticket office of your local LSC member institution.  Vouchers can be redeemed for all three games played by the men’s OR women’s team from the school of your choice.  Single-session tickets can also be purchased.  All tickets are general admission.  To purchase student tickets a valid student I.D. must be presented at the Allen Even Center Box Office.

PLAYING FORMAT
The tournament will consist of an eight-team, single-elimination bracket with seedings based on regular season standings for both the men and women. The top eight teams will qualify, with pairings to be done by seed. 

First round games will be played in four doubleheader sessions consisting of a women’s and men’s same-seeded contest on Wednesday, March 6 and Thursday, March 7.  The sessions are set for Noon and 6:00 p.m. each day.  The semifinal contests will be played on Friday, March 8, in two doubleheader sessions (starting at Noon and 6:00 pm).  The tournament concludes with both championship games in a doubleheader session (6:00 p.m.) on Saturday, March 9.

The tournament winners will earn the LSC’s automatic berths to NCAA postseason play, which starts March 15 or 16 at campus sites.
 

ALLEN EVENT CENTER
LSC Basketball Championship games will be played at the Allen Event Center in Allen, Texas. The $52.6 million state-of-the-art facility, which opened in November 2009, is city owned with approximately 8,000 seats in the basketball configuration plus 24 luxury suites.

Additionally, there are on-site private meeting rooms, food services and free parking. The arena has a modern scoreboard, two video boards and a 360-degree LED ribbon.

The Allen Event Center lends itself to a tremendous fan and participant experience, with the arena having been built as part of a mixed-use development, amidst hundreds of retail stores and restaurants.
