Men’s Golf Championships: MSU leads after second round

Midwestern State shot a 14-under par 274 during Monday’s second round to take a three-shot lead at the Lone Star Conference Men’s Golf Championships.  The annual league event, which features 10 men's teams, is being held at WinStar Golf Course in Thackerville, Okla. 

   The Mustangs are sitting atop the leader board with a six-under 570 (296-274) through two rounds.  Travis Klutts led the MSU run with a five-under 68, which put him in a tie for first place at 136 (68-68).

   Abilene Christian finished the day in second place at three-under 573 (298-275).  The Wildcat’s Cyril Bouniol and Alex Carpenter headlined a field of 22 players who shot even par or better during the second round.  Bouniol shot a LSC Championship three-round record eight-under 64, which also tied the course record.  His round included eight birdies, with four straight on holes 3-6, and left him tied for first place at eight-under 136 (72-64).  Carpenter, who was named LSC Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year, carded a seven-under 65 with six birdies and a chip-in eagle on 18.

   Cameron is at plus-one 577 (293-284) in third place followed by Central Oklahoma at four-over 580 (295-285).
