Women’s Soccer: Preseason poll announced

Angelo State headlined the 2015 Lone Star Conference women’s soccer preseason poll released Wednesday.

ASU received eight of the 15 first-place votes for 82 total points to edge Texas A&M-Commerce.  The Lions, who won the LSC Championship and tournament title last season, were second with the seven remaining top votes and 80 points.

Midwestern State was third with 48 points and Eastern New Mexico fourth with 44 points.  West Texas A&M finished fifth (32) and Texas Woman’s sixth (29).

The 2015 soccer season starts on the pitch in early September.  Each of the six LSC teams will play the other twice during the regular season, with the results of those contests to be used in determining the seeds for a six-team postseason conference tournament.  This year’s tournament will be hosted by the No. 1 seed November 5-6-8, 2015.
