The Lone Star Conference honored 30 student-athletes and two head coaches as league officials announced the annual cross country all-conference honors.
The announcement comes following the LSC Cross Country Championships. West Texas A&M won its sixth consecutive men's title and Midwestern State captured its seventh women's crown.
All-conference honors are given to those runners who finish among the top 15 individually at the conference meet, while additional awards are presented for Coach, Newcomer and Freshman of the Year on both the men’s and women’s side.
WT’s Jake Krolick earned men’s coach of the year acclaim for the second consecutive year, while MSU’s Koby Styles was named the women’s coach of the year for the sixth time.
Newcomer of the Year acclaim went to Cameron’s James Majenge and Eastern New Mexico’s Evaline Cheptoo. Western New Mexico’s David Apodaca and Angelo State’s Jazmin Hernandez earned Freshman of the Year honors.
The coaching honors were selected by a vote of all the LSC head coaches, while the newcomer and freshman awards went to the highest finishers at the league championships.
CU’s Majenge was the individual medalist to headline the men’s all-conference list. He was joined by teammates Felix Nadeborn.
LSC Champion WT was represented by Briggs Wittlake, Daniel Haymes, Butare Rugenerwa, Theo Daeschler, and Justin Vigil.
Runner-up Tarleton State was represented by Quenten Lasseter, Justin Botello, Michael Simcho, Johen Deleon, Jarred Elizondo, and Nicholas Mosqueda.
WNMU’s Apodaca and UT Permian Basin’s Nicholas Wittkopp earned All-LSC honors as well.
On the women’s side, the Greyhounds Mercy Rotich claimed the women’s individual title to top the all-conference performers. She was joined by teammates Cheptoo and Mason Swanson as ENMU finished in third place.
MSU claimed the women’s title with Bridget Reilly, Jasmine Amo, and Amerhyst Aguirre placing in the top 15.
Tarleton finished second with Esmeralda Fuentes and Imani Williams leading the way.
Erman Jepleting and Mallory Shehan represented fourth-place WT, while Angelo State’s Jacylyn Crenwelge and Hernandez, CU’s Edna Cheptum, UTPB’s Freshia Ndungu and WNMU’s Jazmine Vertrees rounded out the All-LSC list.
