Texas A&M-Commerce’s Lucas McCubbin was named the Lone Star Conference Men’s Player of the Year, while Tarleton State’s Sarah Gee claimed top honors on the women’s side Sunday night as the league’s annual postseason golf awards were announced at the championships banquet.
League officials announced the all-conference teams and individual awards at the banquet, held in conjunction with the LSC Championships at Diamondback Golf Club in Abilene, Texas.
Joining McCubbin on the men’s first team All-LSC were Lion teammates Wilfredo Sanchez and Blake Hartford; Midwestern State’s Trip Hobson; and Cameron’s Will Lovelace.
Western New Mexico’s Sam Ruston was tabbed Freshman of the Year, while the Mustangs Kent Beatty earned Coach of the Year acclaim for the men. MSU’s Clayton Keck took home Newcomer of the Year honors.
Gee topped the women’s first team All-LSC that included TexAnn teammate Casey Wild; MSU’s Emily Brennan; and WT’s Loukyee Songprasert and Jelina Fernando.
On the women’s side, MSU’s Brennan earned Freshman of the Year acclaim, while the Lady Buffs Meredith Jameson picked up Coach of the Year honors for the third time.
Five more players were named to the second team for the men and women, while another three men’s and four women’s players were recognized as honorable mention All-LSC selections. The awards are voted upon by the league coaches.
