Murphy advanced to a playoff hole as three players tied for first place through three rounds, where West Texas A&M's Eemeli Jarvinen broke the 3-way tie with a birdie on the first playoff hole. Andres Brictson, Oklahoma Christian, in his first tournament of the fall, posted his ninth career top-10 individual finish with an eighth-place showing in the Sydney Cox Invitational, played on both courses at Lincoln Park Golf Club in Oklahoma City (first round East Course – par 70, 6,420 yards; second round West Course – par 71, 6,518 yards). The 2020 NCAA Division II All-American shot 68-70—138 (3-under) and saved his best golf for last, playing his final nine holes in 4-under, with birdies on the par-3 No. 10 and par-4 No. 11 and an eagle on the par-5 No. 13 – one of only five eagles by any of the 60 men in the field.
Colton Hilburn, UT Permian Basin, became the first individual tournament winner in program history at the Ted & Jodi Hogan Invitational at Ratliff Ranch GC. The sophomore battled wind gusts over 30 mph early, and jumped out to the lead after the first round. Hilburn was the only player on the course to card both rounds under-par. After a challenge in the second round, Hilburn sank a clutch putt on the second playoff hole to force a tiebreaker for the overall champion, which was won by him.
Santiago Garcia, Texas A&M International, led the Dustdevils to a tie for eighth place at the Midwestern State Invitational and finished in a tie for 13th overall. In three rounds, he shot 219 (+6) with round of 71, 75 and 73. He logged six birdies during the tournament, including three in his even par, 71 opening round.
Shaley Goad, Oklahoma Christian, tied her career-best finish with a runner-up showing in the Sydney Cox Invitational, played on both courses at Lincoln Park Golf Club in Oklahoma City (first round East Course – par 70, 5,856 yards; second round West Course – par 72, 5,962 yards). She shot 69-73—142 (even par) and was one of only two players in the 62-woman tournament to shoot even par or better. Her even-par total ranks as the 11th-best 36-hole score in OC women’s golf history. Goad made the all-tournament team by recording her fifth collegiate top-five finish and her first second-place showing since the Heartland Conference Championship tournament in 2019.
Raelynn Hardgrave, UT Tyler, shot back-to-back 77s in Monday's 2-round Oklahoma Intercollegiate tournament, leading UT Tyler to the team victory by a 1-stroke margin. She ranked 5th in the tournament in par-5 scoring, averaging 5.13 (+1), and she ranked third in the tournament in birdies with 4.
