Gonzalez helped the St. Mary's men's Golf team to a second-place finish at the Jack Brown Memorial Invitational. Gonzalez fired an eight-under 208 total to finish second individually including a 66 (-6) in the second round. Gonzalez led the field in par four scoring, shooting three-under for the tournament. The senior carded 13 birdies, third-most of the tournament.
WOMEN’S
Julia Garcia, DBU, FR, Business, Temple, Texas, Belton HS
Garcia won the Jack Brown Memorial in Laredo, Texas, helping guide No. 4 DBU to their fourth win of the year. The freshman’s 212 (-4) performance ties her for the fourth lowest score in school history in a 54-hole tournament. Garcia carded tournament-high totals in birdies (12) and pars (38) en route to an impressive par-5 scoring average of 4.58.

SELECTED NOTABLE PERFORMANCES
Austin Cotton, St. Edward’s, led the way for SEU as the Hilltoppers finished tied for second at the Jack Brown Memorial Invitational, finishing with 211 strokes (69-72-70) to tie for third place. Cotton had two eagles throughout the tournament with 36 pars.
Trevor Norby, Oklahoma Christian, was the top Division II finisher (third overall among 87 players) in the deep Cal State-San Marcos Fujikura Invitational, played at a top San Diego-area course, Shadowridge Golf Club (par 72, 7,008 yards) in Vista, Calif. Norby shot 70-68-78--216 (even par) to lead the sixth-ranked Eagles to a second-place tournament finish in an event that included 16 teams, including five that are ranked or received votes in the most recent Division II coaches' poll. The only two golfers who finished ahead of Norby were from Division I San Diego State. OC is now 54-1-1 this season against Division II competition.
