LSC Scholar-Athletes recognized for 2019-20

The annual Lone Star Conference Scholar-Athlete Award winners were announced on Tuesday, with more than 30 student-athletes recognized by league officials.

Each academic year, the LSC presents a Scholar-Athlete Award to one male and one female student-athlete at member institutions. These student-athletes are selected as representatives of the outstanding accomplishments in athletics, scholarship and leadership that are displayed on each LSC campus during the year.

To be eligible for consideration, student-athletes must have participated at least two years in their sport and be a member of the graduating class.

Besides representing 17 of the league’s member institutions, this year’s recipients represent 17 of the 18 sports that are sponsored by the conference.  Football and softball had the most Scholar-Athletes with five each, while women’s soccer had three selections. Baseball, volleyball, and women’s golf each had two.

The 2019-20 Scholar-Athletes led their respective teams to a pair of conference championships, one divisional title and one tournament crown.

Texas is home for 22 of the recipients, with two from Arkansas and Minnesota, along with one each from Arizona, Oklahoma, British Columbia, Denmark, Gambia and Germany.
