GOLFERS OF THE WEEK
MEN’S
Garrett Leek, Midwestern State, SO, Management, Brock, Texas, Brock HS
Leek became just the fifth men's golfer in Midwestern State program history to claim multiple individual wins pulling away to win the WNMU Fall Invitational by seven strokes claiming individual medalist honors for the second time in his career. The sophomore from Brock recorded scores of 68, 68 and 67 to match the school record for low 54-hole total with a 13-under 203. Former All American and two-time LSC Player of the Year Derek Oland also achieved the feat at the West Florida Argonaut Invitational in the spring of 2014. Leek has recorded par-or-better scores in 26 of his 52 collegiate golf rounds finishing in the 60s on 14 occasions. He lowered his career stroke average to 72.31 which is the second lowest in program history. It was Leek's first win since claiming top individual honors at the Midwestern State Invitational last fall overcoming and eight-stroke deficit heading into the final round by firing an 8-under 63.
 
WOMEN’S
Olivia Mitchell, DBU, FR, Marketing, Plano, Texas, Lebanon Trail HS
Mitchell, a true freshman, won the DBU Classic in her first NCAA tournament start by shooting 12-under par 204 over a three round span. Mitchell led the field in Par 4 scoring (6-under par) and total birdies (16) on her way to a five-shot victory. Her first round score of 66 (6-under par) was the best score registered during the tournament.

SELECTED NOTABLE PERFORMANCES
      Parker Beaty, UT Permian Basin, started the 20-21 campaign strong, finishing the Falcons opening event in a three-way tie for second place at the WNMU Fall Invitational.  Beaty caught fire in the second round shooting a 5-under 67 to charge up the leader board and be in contention heading into the final round.  The Odessa native led all players with three eagles as the Falcons led the field with seven as a team. 
      Jeff Murphy, UT Tyler, collected two eagles in his second round on holes 2 & 18, adding two birdies in the round as he finished the WNMU Fall Invitational with nine birdies.
      Eemeli Jarvinen, West Texas A&M, led the way for the Buffs as they opened their fall schedule at the WNMU Fall Invitational in El Paso, Texas at Butterfield Trail Golf Club.  The Helsinki, Finland product registered the fifth-highest par-four scoring average in the tournament as he finished the two-day event with 11 birdies and just 10 bogeys. He fired an even-par 72 in both rounds on Monday followed by a one-under 71 in the final round on Tuesday.
      Julia Kerrigan, UT Tyler, got the three-round tournament started with an even-par 72 in Monday's first round at the DBU Classic. She notched three first-round birdies and added four birdies in round two Monday afternoon. She finished with a team-high eight birdies in the tournament.
      Abigail Rigsby, Oklahoma Christian, playing in her first collegiate tournament since the NCAA Division II Championship in May 2019, Rigsby posted a top-10 finish in the DBU Classic, the 18th of her collegiate career. Her second-round 69 (-3) at Wildhorse Golf Club at Robson Ranch in Denton, Texas, included six birdies.
      Alyssa Campbell, West Texas A&M, led the Lady Buffs to a third-place finish at the DBU Classic as she finished 13th  at 8-over with rounds of 73-79-72. It was her third Top 15 finish as a Lady Buff. She finished the 54-hole tournament with 11 birdies and was one of eight players to record an eagle.
