The Lone Star Conference announced updates to the 2021 spring schedules for volleyball and men’s and women’s soccer following recent approval from the league’s Council of Presidents.
Contests will begin next week for volleyball, and mid-February for men’s and women’s soccer.
The spring 2021 volleyball slate will feature a “bubble” format for 16 teams with four divisions consisting of four teams each on Tuesday-Wednesday playing dates. Each team has 12 divisional games over six weeks against the same opponent at the same site. Regular season competition will begin on Jan. 26 and will conclude on March 10 with the week of March 15-20 reserved for make-up contests. The LSC Volleyball Championship will include 12 teams with the top three in each division. The opening round is set for March 23, followed by the quarterfinals on March 24, semifinals on March 30 and championship match on March 31.
Men’s soccer will play an eight-game single-round robin conference schedule with matches beginning the week of Feb. 15 with regular season games concluding on April 6. The LSC Men’s Soccer Championship will include the top four teams in the league based on conference points. The championship will begin with semifinals on Saturday, April 10 and conclude with the championship match on Monday, April 12.
The women’s soccer schedule features 13 teams split into two divisions, one with six teams and one with seven, for a single round-robin. Teams in the seven-team division will also have one non-conference game versus a LSC team for seven total games, while the six-team division will play three additional non-conference games for eight total contests. Competition will begin the week of Feb. 15, while the regular season concludes on March 31. All 13 teams will advance to the LSC Women’s Soccer Championship with first round matches on April 3 followed by quarterfinals on April 6, semifinals on April 10 and the championship match on April 13. All contests will take place on-campus.
Eastern New Mexico and Western New Mexico both opted out of the spring 2021 volleyball schedule, and ENMU is not competing in men’s and women’s soccer due to the state of New Mexico’s health guidelines related to COVID-19.
The LSC will no longer sponsor a spring season in the sport of football.
