Two Lone Star Conference teams took home team titles at the ASU Blue and Gold Classic to close out the final week of cross country action before the league’s championships this weekend. Midwestern State’s women’s team and West Texas A&M’s men’s team secured team victories, and Christyn Smith and Innocent Murwanashyaka won individual titles.

Lone Star Conference Cross Country Championships
The 2021 LSC Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Championships will take place this Saturday, October 23, in Lawton, Oklahoma at the Big Green Soccer Complex hosted by Cameron. The championships will consist of a 6-kilometer race for the women at 9:30 a.m. followed by an 8-kilometer race for the men at 10:30 a.m. For more information, visit

Murwanashyaka picked up his second career victory last week at the ASU Blue & Gold Classic in WT's final race before the Lone Star Conference Championships. The junior was the first of eight straight Buffaloes to cross the finish line as they covered the muddy 8-kilometer course in 24:35.9.

Posada finished second at the ASU Blue & Gold Classic as the Buffs put the first eight runners across the line to win the team title. In just his second career 8-kilometer race, the freshman from Houston ran 25:03.2 in muddy conditions to record his second career Top 5 finish.
