GOLFERS OF THE WEEK
MEN’S
Alex Motes, Oklahoma Christian, JR, Criminal Justice, Sulphur Springs, Texas, Sulphur Springs HS
Motes became the 22nd OC player to win an individual tournament title as he and teammate Andres Brictson shared medalist honors as the Eagles swept to a commanding 22-shot win over in the Houston Classic in Humble, Texas. At The Golf Club of Houston (par 72, 6,945 yards), Motes improved each round, shooting 74-70-69—213 to finish at 3-under. He recorded what is thought to be only the second ace in OC's program history in the first round and his final-round 69 matched the top round of the day by any of the 49 players in the tournament. It was Motes’ first collegiate title and makes him one of four current OC players to have won at least one college tournament.
