LSC Cross Country Top Times - As of 10/12/22 (PDF)
Nine Lone Star Conference cross country teams recorded top-three finishes last week, including four teams that claimed team victories. Midwestern State’s women, Western New Mexico’s men and both Texas A&M International teams earned first-place honors. Both Lubbock Christian teams earned second-place finishes, WNMU’s women earned runner-up honors as did UT Tyler’s men, and Angelo State’s women secured a third-place standing.

Lone Star Conference Cross Country Championships
The 2022 LSC Men's and Women's Cross Country Championships are slated for Saturday, November 5, in Wichita Falls, Texas, at the River Creek Golf Course hosted by Midwestern State. The championships will consist of an 8-kilometer race for the men at 9:30 a.m., followed by the women's 6-kilometer race at 10:30 a.m. For more information, visit

RUNNERS OF THE WEEK
MEN'S
Elias Perez, Western New Mexico, JR, Undeclared, El Paso, Texas, Eastwood HS
Perez picked up his first win in a Mustang uniform after besting a field of 92 runners at the Mustang Derby hosted by Midwestern State last week. The El Paso native blazed through the 8-kilometer course in 25:03.7, setting a new personal record at that distance. His performance also led to WNMU’s first team win of the season as the Mustangs placed four runners inside the top five.
WOMEN'S
Gracey Lovato, Western New Mexico, FR, Nursing, Rio Rancho, N.M., Rio Rancho HS
Lovato took home the individual title at the Mustang Derby hosted by Midwestern State last week. The freshman completed the 5-kilometer course at the River Creek Golf Course in 18:33.5, coming away with her first career win by a margin of 6.2 seconds. Her performance led WNMU to a runner-up team finish, the highest standing of the season.

Daniel Salinas, Texas A&M-Kingsville, FR, Business Finance, Kingsville, Texas, Santa Gertrudis Academy
Salinas finished the 8-kilometer race at the Mustang Derby in a time of 28:13.1 with an average mile of 5:40.6. His 39th-place finish marked a new collegiate-best time in an 8k race. The freshman also helped lead the Javelinas to their third consecutive top-10 finish.
