Midwestern State’s Jake Doggett was named Lone Star Conference Player of the Year for the second time to lead the annual postseason men’s golf awards announced by league officials on Sunday at the championship banquet.
Doggett topped the men’s first team that included Cameron’s Tyler Kaman; Oklahoma Christian’s Alejandro Armijo and Mateo Pulcini; St. Mary's Ryan Dixon; and Texas A&M-Commerce’s Kittiphong Phaithuncharoensuk.
CU’s Hamish Murray was tabbed Freshman of the Year, while Austin Phillips earned Coach of the Year acclaim.
TAMUC’s Phaithuncharoensuk took home Newcomer of the Year honors.
In total, 18 men’s players were All-LSC selections with six additional players on the second team and six honorable mention selections. The awards are voted upon by the league coaches.
